A team that was feeling lost and confused as there was little leadership occurring. The support section was lacking enthusiasm for the team. The locker room was exceptionally quiet. The only noise was the squeaky wheels of the laundry cart being pushed down the halls. Tamanna would not stand for this. He is proud to be a soccer player and proud and grateful for accomplishing everything he has done to be drafted to an SSL Team. He decided to step up and be a Player, Coach, and Manager and didn't care what anyone else either on the team or not thought. He started off making big waves loaning out the team's best two players for the season. He picked up several new players, and made a big trade for a top tier, up and coming tactician. The locker room started to get a bit livelier. The fans took notice and started attending the games more. At the start of the season, the team got a couple of draws but then went on a long losing streak, most of which were 0-1 scores. The team felt so close on the brink of making huge steps, and we eventually did. At the end of the season, we recorded a couple of big wins which boost our morale for the off season of good things to come.

Overall the team went 3-4-7 for S7 in league play. Despite the seven losses, the team's goal differential was only -8. However, the team has gathered a lot of young talent with five players in the top 20 of S7 class and 2 of the top 4 players of S8 class. There is a lot of hope for a bright future. On a personal level, Tamanna has been the highest skilled player of S7 class, unfortunately, the team's poor season hasn't enabled Tamanna to show off those skills much. Tamanna did have an incredible long range jaw dropping shot to seal a win against Seoul. A side from that Tamanna's season stats don't stand out well. His 6.82 average rating ranks him at 83. He did finish the season with 91.8% pass success on 831 passes, 82.4% tackle rate.

APPROVED

Karl Schenkinger player page
#1 Biography

Even though it was pretty much expected, draft night still ended up being one of the bigger losses of Karl Schenkingers career so far. Going undrafted, it seemed like no team even had him on their scouting file. Despite his agent's best efforts, Teams remained silent when it came to the bulky german midfielder. It is as if he didn't exist at all.

That changed radically a few weeks later. Accra, a team that had been struggling with idendity and success, had picked up the rights to sign him. There was no guarantee for playing time, but it only took a short conversation for Schenkinger to pack his bags and fly to Africa immediately, joining his new team.
However, Schenkinger was unable to contribute much to success at first. Much to his dismay, he didn't start at all his first two games - both losses to Paris -, instead he only got subbed in at halftime. Funnily enough, his only two shots on the opposing goal have been registered in these games.
The very next game against Seoul was probably the turnaround game for Schenkinger personally. Playing in the back 3, Accra won the game 1:0 and Schenkinger played all 90 Minutes of the game in the first victory of his career. Schenkinger went on to play every single minute for the rest of the season, ending with a very solid 6.67 rating.

Despite the losses in the next few games, the atmosphere in the team was changing. Players started to talk to each other more, the locker room became more fun, and trust was established. In the second half of the season, this Accra team earned 14 points in 7 games and was on a tear, even though promotion had been out of reach since the bad start to the season. Schenkinger personally finished the season as a Central Midfielder, after he had previously been selected as Central Defender. With Lellewyn playing his preferred position, chances are he might be played off-role in the future as well, but Schenkinger showed some promise: In the final game of the season against Reykjavik, Schenkinger recorded the first assist of his career, thus ending the season on a high note personally as well.

In total, Schenkinger has kept the promise his (barely existant) scouting report made: A barely existant threat on offense, the german excels on the defensive side of the pitch. Commentators often don't realize he's playing, but teammates and opponents sure do, because he keeps disrupting opposing attacks with ruthless tackles and strong challenges.

(454 words)

APPROVED

Glenn Smart

Career PT#1

Glenn Smart has had a solid rookie season for AC Romana. There have certainly been times when he has been shaky but at the same time, he has put in some superb performances in a position that he wasn’t really primed for coming out of the draft. Smart had always been a defensive midfielder as he was growing up — marauding around midfield and generally being a disruptive force. At times, you could see that element of his game creeping back in during his first season in the Simulation Soccer League. He would frequently find himself out of position, as his instincts to chase the ball around proved too strong to resist. However, towards the back end of the season, he began to show more discipline with his positioning and assignments.

If the pundits are to be believed, he certainly adapted well to his new surroundings — averaging a little over a 7/10 across the course of the season. Having Aleksandar Stojakovic alongside him has been immensely helpful, as the wily old' veteran would frequently make up for Smart’s youthful exuberance by remaining disciplined and covering the gap that Glenn had just left wide open in the defense.

His 97.6% pass accuracy throughout the season was invaluable to AC Romana, who prefer to play out from the back in a calm and composed manner. However, there are still areas that Smart will need to work on if he is to be viable at the next level. His height, which had been highlighted as a potential issue at the start of the season, was exploited by opponents initially. Winning just 76% of aerial duels as a center back is certainly not acceptable in the big leagues. So, during the off season, in between signing a 3 year deal to keep him at Romana for the foreseeable future, Smart has primarily been working on his explosive power and adding a little spring to his step in the hopes of patching over such a glaring hole in his game.

APPROVED

Kaapstad of the SSL. He showed quite a bit of potential, but really wasn’t the difference maker he’d hoped to be, as he was unable to do anything to help Kaapstad stave off relegation. Müller only appeared in nine games for Kaapstad, and registered 0 points across those nine appearances. Granted, as a defensive midfielder, he likely wasn’t expected to put up a lot of points, but he really didn’t help his team move the needle offensively.

Taking a deeper look at how well Müller stacked up against the elite of the SSL proves tricky, as official league statistics are position-blind. That being said, Müller averaged 13.41km run per game, with the top endurance player covering approximately 15.55km per game. He averaged 56.78 passes per game, while the top player was attempting 94.91 passes. Where Müller was a little more impressive was in his pass completion rate, ranking 33rd in the league (30th among players who attempted at least 100 passes).

As a defensive midfielder, it’s likely that Müller won’t be featuring as highly on many of the statistical leader boards, but it will be interesting to see whether or not that’s the case once he gets to play in a full season. In an off-season interview, Müller said that he wanted to work on being a bigger part of getting the counter attack started. Whether or not he has the skill and vision to accomplish this remains to be seen. Unfortunately, these attempts will likely mean that Müller’s one bright spot from his rookie campaign – his high passing completion rate – may not feature in his sophomore season. However, if he's able to spur a few counterattack goals, and his mistakes don’t lead to counterattacks in turn, that will likely be a trade that he – and Kaapstad – are willing to make.

(314 words)

APPROVED

Picked up on waivers by AC Romana before the start of Season 7, it looked like the talented Honduran teenager may have needed a couple of seasons to develop before coming to the Simulation Soccer League. As it turns out, he stepped in and has produced a string of steady performances at left back.

His first game was a 1-0 loss to Montreal, but Nunez put in a decent performance. He had his worst game of the season in a 6-1 loss to Red Star Laos a few weeks later, but he soon got used to the speed of the league. As a fast and energetic full back, he would frequently get forward and then have to use his pace to track back, sometimes covering 14 or 15 kilometres in the course of a game.

His best game came towards the end of the season, in a 3-3 draw with Seoul Mythic, in which he got his only assist of the season. Nunez found his niche running up and down the left wing, often supplying the passes that led to the assist. He looked at home in the big leagues.

Off the pitch, it was a different story. Though he had always dreamed of playing football in Europe, the reality of living in Italy proved to be a challenge. The language barrier was rough and he missed the food he was accustomed to - why did everything have tomato sauce here? Fortunately, Romana also signed his twin brother Tyson, which helped the situation. Unable to communicate and intimidated in a foreign country, they both continued to work hard and focused on improving their game. Towards the end of the season, Romana set the twins up with Italian language lessons, so they can navigate everyday life in their new home a little bit more easily.

APPROVED

He was drafted to FC Kaapstad in the first round with the 4th overall pick in the season 6 draft. Honored by this high selection, Hall was determined to show out for his team. Hoping to be a premier defender in the league, Hall was known for his aggressiveness in going at the ball. The team itself did quite well - finishing the season with a 5-2-3 record, good for second in division 2 behind Inter London and earning a promotion to division 1! Some could say Kaapstad overperformed with just a goal differential of 1 but it was enough to move up in divisions edging out Paris by one point with the extra draw we had.

Looking at the individual stats though, you could tell Dexter was a rookie. Hall finished the season with a pedestrian 6.76 average rating over 7 appearances. You can tell his focus was 100% on defense as he had no goals, assisted or anything. Not even a shot! Hall did have a respectable 95% pass%, which was probably key to keep possession and push the ball forward for counter attacks. On the flip side, he posted a 71% header %, not something you'd want to see from someone defending the box. Hall did get a bit feisty with other players too, getting booked for 2 yellow cards and called on 8 total fouls. Fortunately no red! In addition, Hall also had 1 mistake that directly led to a goal, something he will absolutely look towards working on during the offseason.

Overall while Hall had his struggles during the season, he was happy how it turned out. He learned a lot on the way and glad to say that he's a part of a team that worked hard to move up in the rankings and get promoted! In the offseason, Hall will be working on his technique and watching some film tape from the past season to work on his game and elevate how he plays.

APPROVED

Patrick Carrigan knew that starting a career would not be that easy at all so this wasn't much of a surprise but even with a really slow start to his career there were a few really nice bright spots. The first game was a downer conceding about thirty eight goals but it didn't take too long to get the hang of what was happening and he ended the season with a clean sheet or 2 and had a few outstanding games even if those clean sheets ended in a draw and not a win that's still better than a kick in the shins.

There is a lot of hope for Patrick Carrigan and Athens also after building on his rookie season. He has spent a lot more time training and has a lot more chemistry with his defenders after working with them a lot more than he had this point last season. The whole team looks much better than they were a season ago and there are hopes they could even find themselves in the discussion at the end of the season for a promotion candidate. This will require a much better season from Patrick Carrigan but after his slow start in the rookie season Patrick Carrigan is just raring to go and be the brick wall in between the sticks that Patrick Carrigan knows he can be.

The main thing for Patrick Carrigan is going to be using his debut season's stats to give himself a hopefully easy bar to to pass. Last season he had the following stats.

Games: 6
Goals Conceded: 14
Average Rating: 6.4
Player of the Match: 1
Goals: 1

With that we have a good picture of a player that Patrick Carrigan wants to be better than.

APPROVED
Editor's Note: Also if you can link your previous one next time, it'd be pretty handy.

Though the question remained… was it enough? Did this career move really fill him with the joy he had aspired to obtain? Was he kicking balls good enough? The answer is… eh!

Yeah -- he wasn’t truly great at the whole soccer thing. Turns out there’s more to it than simply kicking balls. Actually, there’s a lot more to it! So, while the Mexican landed a starting position with a division 2 team easily enough, he still had a lot more training to do. Yeah, he could kick a ball… but could he jog around for 90 minutes? No. No he couldn’t. He had to train.

“Damn” he thought, “Kicking balls sure is a lot of work!”

So, he did train. Every so often he felt himself getting better. He had gotten more and more into shape, getting faster and faster and a bit stronger. Eventually he was able to hold his own a bit more than how he was when he had started with Red Star Laos. He didn’t win any rookie of the year awards or blazed any trails, but he did get a little better at his job. Which apparently was good enough for Laos.

Delo won’t look back at his rookie season as something to be proud of, but rather as a first step to the rest of his life. A life full of kicking balls – the only thing he had ever been good at. And being a footballer is only making him better at it.

----

Now with his rookie season complete, and his initial contract on its last year, Delo got the offer to re-sign with Red Star Laos. Sitting in a room with fellow squadmates Messi and Changshan, his manager Chicken lays out three contracts.

“We could keep using you all in the squad,” Chicken said. “Here’s what we’re offering.”

The three glance down at their respective contracts, then at one another’s. Only Messi and Changshan smile.

“Why are they making a million more than me per year?” Delo asks, with a frown.

“Because your dumbass keeps kicking me in the nuts,” Chicken responds.

“Oh,” Delo replies back. He signs the contract.

A nice rookie year with Laos. The excitement level was at a peak as he approached the Boris Johnson Partydome. Inter London had just been relegated to the new Division 2 in the SSL, but that just meant opportunity for Jerry. He wouldn't have to face any of the division 1 players, he'd be able to play people on his own level. The rust of not playing had really started to show with him, as he made 8.5 appearances, but managed to score a grand total of 0 times. Inter London as a whole didn't have a much better season, finishing the year with only 3 points. It was a rocky start for Jerry's career, but a start that he believed he could overcome.

Without any goals, it is hard to find highlights of Jerry excelling at his job, but that doesn't mean it was a complete lost season for him. 2 assists on the year, a completed pass percentage of 83.8% which isn't awful, and he managed to play pretty clean soccer, only grabbing a single yellow card over the course of the entire season. There were a lot of growing pains for Jerry that year, getting use to a set of teammates that he had never met before, getting used to playing a position that wasn't his best, as he was placed at Winger a lot when he prefers to be a Striker, but overall, he overcame his issues and put forth an, at worst, mediocre season, and at best, passable.

We don't know where his career will take him next, he knows that he wants to stay at Inter London for life as the team that drafted him, but he's going to have to perform better if he wants to earn that spot on the team, especially if they earn their way to Division 1 down the road, these performances won't fly in division 1. Will he be able to hold on? Time will tell.

CODE

340 Words

APPROVED

Jean-Claude Goddamn Player Page
Career PT #1

Well the season has concluded and the teams of both divisions of the SSL are preparing for the league's tenth season to get underway. It was a rather disappointing season for Cairo City who eventually finished 6th in Division Two with 3 wins and 11 losses. It's not what fans of the Egyptian franchise were looking for and having failed to deliver this season, their patience will be even thinner moving forward.

One player looking to be the driving force behind Cairo's resurgence is Belgian Striker, Jean-Claude Goddamn. After slipping to 13th Overall in the Season 9 Player Draft, Goddamn found himself selected by Cairo City, although he was somewhat surprised that he slipped out of the top 10. "Sure I was disappointed to fall that far, but there were a lot of quality players selected before me, as well as Striker not being as in demand as other positions. It's fine. Cairo will have the benefit of picking up a dominant forward, for a reasonably cheap pick(via Buenos Aires) at 13th overall", said a relaxed Goddamn.

He showed glimpses of his potential at times this season, most notably during a 5-2 rare victory over Accra, where he finished with 2 Goals and an assist, managing a 8.91 Game rating in the process. With continued development and advanced training, there is little doubt that Jean-Claude will develop into an outstanding young Striker for Cairo, where games like previously mentioned will be the norm, not simply a highlight from this early stage of his career. His range of skills, coupled with natural athletic ability and mental fortitude all mean that he will become an elite talent in the SSL and at some point many SSL experts assume that Cairo will struggle to hold on to someone of his quality and potential. The player himself is focused on honing his skills and remains tight-lipped when asked about speculation of his future in Egypt. His usual reply is a simple "No comment" although on at least one occasion he has been fined by the league for telling one journalist where he could shove his notepad if he didn't stop asking about transfer rumors. In the end, he is contracted to Cairo and by all indications he intends to do his best for them while he's wearing their uniform. In the end, only time will tell just how long that will be.

CODE

398

APPROVED
