To say that this season was disappointing is putting it very lightly. He was never known as a huge offensive talent, but he was known for a player who liked the ball at his feet and could drive play from time to time. That being said he was very disappointed with the way his team allowed him to play and the opportunities they gave him. He started slow and once that happened it appeared that his team gave up on him a bit and pushed the play through other players. This made him discouraged and just put him in a bad spot. With only 3 goals, but an even worse only 1 assist on the season, this was not the way he wanted his rookie campaign to start. He was however very efficient the few times he did have his foot on the ball as he was over 85% successful on his passes. That was about it for his game however, as he had no key tackles, one one key header (though that is not really in his game), and only created 5 really good chances all season. He was however a pretty stalwart defender as no mistakes made leaded in goals and he was unpenalized the entire season, with only one foul taken. He was also able to draw 6 fouls against in his limited time with the ball. As a team Hollywood wasn't bad, but they certainly were not a good team in the league. Amid controversy with losing their manager halfway through the season and their second manager getting injured and left the team for a while, it is not surprising that McPossum didn't have a good season. They also definitely focused on a few players on the roster to be good and not focusing on a more all around team game, which I do believe hurt them. However, with a shocking twist to the end of the season, Awesome McPossum is on the move as he got traded from Hollywood, back to Europe to play for Catalunya. Hoping he will be more comfortable there and with a newer team he should have an elevated role, which could really bring the spark back into his game.

CODE

389 words

APPROVED

Tokyo is very far away from her home in Sweden and she had to learn a lot of new things in order to feel at home in her new city. Her team helped out a lot with that, they were all very welcoming and learning to settle in and play together as a team. Coming into the league she had no idea what to expect, but really liked the experience of forging a new team identity with a group of people who were in the same boat. I don't know anything about soccer statistics, I am going to be perfectly honest, so it's hard to accurately judge how well she played this season, but hey, we won a cup, so something worked out, right?? Here are some key statistics (I think). Helena only had one assist this season, but she is a defender, so I don't think generating offense is necessarily her job (I hope. If it is, oh boy, we need to work on that). Helena attempted 1101 passes this season, and she completed 1057 of them! That is a 96% pass completion rate, which seems good to me! (I don't actually know if that's good, but I did go and look at some real world soccer teams and check out their pass completion percentages and the highest one I could find there was 90%. Also I asked Aleris and he said it was "world class" so I'm going to take his word for it.) Helena also had the best tackle percentage on the team with 82%, so don't try to sneak by her or you will get tackled. She has also learned a lot of stuff about Tokyo and Japan on the whole, and is working on improving her Japanese language skills so she can fully immerse herself in her new home All in all, this season was a lot of fun for her, especially when Tokyo went from a very rocky start to a hot finish and an eventual cup win. It's going to be hard to top that, except maybe next year we can win the regular season thing too because that would be really cool.

CODE

381 words

APPROVED

On the season, Athenai was 3rd in the league table in terms of points with 13 on the season finishing just ahead of Hollywood and Tokyo by virtue of a draw on the season. Athenai was interesting in that they were one of the lowest scoring teams (tied for last) and conceded the least amount of goals on the season. Jannik Andersen definitely helped on his team to keep the ball out of the net and helped Athenai give up the least amount of goals on the season.

However, on the season statistically Jannik Andersen was not one of the better goalies in the league and his success may have been a product of his team around him. In his 12 appearances, Andersen had a shutout in a quarter of his games with 3 on the season and as mentioned, conceded the least amount of goals. However, Andersen's save percentage was in the bottom half of the league for goalkeepers in the SSL and it is possible his defense just gave up less shots than the rest. However, what can't be seen in stats was Jannik's ability to rush out and defend which is not shown as a save and he has come up big shutting down some angles.

It will be very interesting to see how Jannik can improve as more shots come his way as he looks to round out his form. The young keeper known more as a sweeper keeper is looking to improve his overall goalkeeping ability while staying eccentric and mobile! Look for Jannik to keep his sweeper keeper nature but also be a traditional keeper at times when he needs to. It is likely the weakest part of his game which may have kept his save percentage lower because he was not as adept being between the posts as he is rushing out and defending. Obviously you need to have all ability as a keeper in the SSL and the young Dane is definitely still growing and finding his way in the league and in his role on his team.

APPROVED
Sam Siege Biography

My very first game with Tokyo was against Cairo City FC in the regular season. My introduction into the league was a 60th minute deserved red card. And not just any red card, not just the first straight red, but the first ever red in the league.
I ended up getting a 6.4 rating that game where we lost 3-0. Our second game was against Inter London in the regular season. The team were down in the dumps, having only 1 goal in 6 league games. The lone goal coming in a 0-1 vicotory over the last placed Rio. Tokyo was struggling to the point that one player was ready to quit. I ended up being picked up by them to replace this player. My first game we ended up winning 2-1. I ended up getting the best rating at a 7.5 that match, most likely due to being match fit from the SHL season I was previously a part of. Going into the locker room in my second game, the 8th matchday, there was definitely a bit of a buzz in the air. It continued on the pitch too, as we not only scored the first goal of the game, but we ended up winning 4-1, and me getting a 7.4 match rating. Although the team was struggling before I arrived, I was ecstatic to be on a team that had not lost yet, in my eyes.

Our next game was a cup match. As this was the league's first year of existence, the teams were drawn randomly. Tokyo ended up having to play Rio. In the first leg, we continued our winning ways, winning 1-0. With a match rating of 7.5, I was averaging a great avg. MR/game. The second leg ended up playing to a 0-0 draw. I again had a 7.5 match rating. We were happy to have made it to the next round, but we had yet to face our toughest opponent: Cairo City FC.

The African side was first in the league. By defeating Rio in the Cup Quarterfinals, this was our prize. And what a prize it would be to the disbelief of everyone and to the chagrin of Tokyo. No one gave us a chance, the least being the the guys who started up a brand new podcast. Things were going well, then Cairo scored. Everyone thought it was over. However, we didn't give up, and we ended up scoring a goal ourselves. We were back in this, and we made it a game. Cairo must have been slacking off, thinking we would be easily defeated, because they weren't expecting such a quick response from us, nor were they expecting a second goal not long after. Defending for our lives, we ended up stealing the game with a 2-1 victory, and another 7.5 match rating for me. However, we couldn't get to complacent, as it was only leg 1 of 2

Game 2 started much like the first: a goal from Cairo. They were more prepared after our shock win last leg. But also like last game, we ended up scoring right after. Then, the ultimate shock: we scored a second goal. This time Cairo wouldn't be as surprised. They ended up tying the game up 2-2. Near the end of the game, it was looking more and more like we would advance to the next round. That was confirmed with a 88th minute goal to make it 3-2, aggregate 5-2. I would get my best match rating thus far with a 7.7 this game. Tokyo pulled off the biggest upset and will be playing in the cup final.

Before the final would be played, there was a matchday in between. We would play Athenai FC, and win 2-0. I would also get my best ever match rating of 8.2. The team had now gone from 1-0-4 before I joined to 6-1-1 afterwards. I don't know what I did, as I'm only a defender, but the team ended up scoring more goals with me on the pitch than off. We would now play Inter London FC once again, this time in a single elimination. This would be not only the game of the cup, but the game of the season, and will definitely be one of the most memorable cup games ever. This would be extra special considering it would be the first time that there was color commentary for a game, which turned out to be a huge success.

Now I'm used to the North American style where theres the regular season, and then the playoffs, where the winner wins the cup. However, knowing how most football leagues do it, this made sense to me. But here I was, on the biggest stage of this league. The no-chance, upstart giant killers from Tokyo who weren't supposed to make it this far against the big boys from London, trying to steal the league from Cairo. Tokyo would start the scoring in the 19th minute. Tokyo was en route to another upset. That would be score line going into halftime. It wouldn't take long after halftime for London to score. In the 49th minute, it would be all tied up at 1. Tokyo would score again in the 72nd minute to take the lead. It was now 2-1 and Tokyo would have to defend for their life. And that wouldn't be more true than in the 85th minute. One of the better strikers in the league was looking at an open goal, and I ran back and was able to pressure him into taking a bad shot. not 4 minutes later, a foul in the box against Tokyo forces the ref to point to the spot. a 90th minute penalty was awarded to London. My head was down. we played so well, but it wasn't going to be over yet... or was it? the pk was kicked.... and saved by the goalie!!! they ended up getting the ball back, but they skied it over the net for a goal kick! This was it, it was our time to shine! 2 minutes of extra time, and the final whistle blows, ending the game. Tokyo, the team that could, the giant killers, won 2-1. I got a match rating of 7.2

We had one more match to play in the league. We were currently in 5th, but with a win against Rio, we could get up to 3rd place. It wasn't to be, however. Drunk on our cup win, we didn't play to our fullest and we ended up losing 1-3. I had a match rating of 7.3. It didn't matter that we lost that match, because we had won the cup against all odds!

I ended the season with a passing percentage of 96.15%, tied for the most red cards with one other player with 1, and having the best average rating of all defenders with a 7.42. I come into season 2 with a chip on my shoulder and a target on my back, ready to defend the cup title, and hopefully win the league as well.

APPROVED

Money that wasn't either preceeded by a - sign or followed up with "overdrawn".
Anyway outside of that. Over to the season in review.
Athenai had a rough start of it, going down 4-2 in their home opener against Inter London, this definitely put the fear in the Greek side which made them step up a gear.
Week 2 saw them win their first away game 2-1 against Rio then travelled back home to give the home crowd fans something to cheer about, soundly destroying Cairo 4-1.
Week 4 saw the Hollywood side visit and knock Athenai down a peg beating them 2-1 only for Athenai to visit Tokyo putting them to the sword for a 4-0 romping.
Week 6 saw a bore draw against Inter London in London then week 7 saw them take the home loss against Rio.
Week 8 was the last before the Cup break which saw Athenai travel to and beat Cairo in Egypt.
Athenai got a controversial bye through the first round of the cup. Meeting inter London in the second round who promptly dumped them out of the tournament unceremoniously.
Weeks 9 & 10 saw Athenai limp home with 2 losses, one at home to Tokyo and the second was their first league away defeat of the season against Holywood.

On the field Deedee was certainly one of Athenais bright sparks and one to look out for in the future with him playing pretty much every minute of game time. He managed to bag 1 goal alongside 3 assists and had a passing accuracy of over 90% most impressively out of the teams 12 games he picked up 3 man of the match awards. That's a quarter of the available MotM not even including the opposition. It happened on the lower levels he played atleast. But it turned out that the difficulty of the Simulation Soccer League was higher then expected. He did not perform as well as he hoped too.

But how well did Kuai Liang do? Let's have a look at this stats for the season. He played 1200 minutes total over 13 games in total. An average of 92+ minutes per game, which is an insane amount, he must have never been subbed throughout the games. In total he ran 185.3 kilometers, an average of 14,3 kilometers per game. When looking at google, it says that a Professional football/soccer players run an average of 11 kilometers per game, so he sure gave his all for the team.

On the score sheet we can find Kuai Liang back with 3 goals and 2 assists, a small amount for a winger. Liang prides himself for his long shots, but from his 29 shots in total, only 13 where on target. So he certainly needs to work on his accuracy some more. His passing did have decent numbers, especially considering his low skill level here. From his 548 passes, 467 of them were succesfull. A percentage of 85.22%. 22 of his passes were key passes. He also attempted 47 crosses, but most of them went to the defensive team as only 13 of them were succesfull. This will be another area in his game he will need to work on.

Next to this he also created seven chances to score a goal. When checking his header skills, he attempted 76 of them while 40 were succesfull. Now Chinese aren't known for their length, so this is a decent score if you ask me. Kuai Liang also has 32 dribbles, but it is not known how many of these were succesfull.

Defensively he did well, as 14 out of his 16 tackles were succesfull. The thing he is probably most proud of is that none of his mistakes lead to goals. He had 25 interceptions on the field, where he stole the ball back for his team. In total his performances were an average of 6.77, so grounds for improvement in season 2.

APPROVED

Not only was the league chaotic, as it was the league's rookie season, But the team was chaotic as well. Rumors of changes in the staff of the team even as the season was starting gave way to a rapid series of changes in tactics and philosophy. Wild rantings could be heard from the manager's office about "inverted double pivot" and "withdrawn inside forward" increased with the insanity of the terms as the season dragged on. From the middle of the season on Milan horvat was asked to be almost a completely different player than he was before. What was a constantly pressing and space covering defensive midfielder the manager began to ask him to play further and further up. The player that was designated to be the star sniper of the team ended up flopping really hard as they were unable to get themselves anywhere near for the number of goals that was expected from them. One major contention that was hard to reconcile was the constant shifting of the teams philosophy of being a counter-attack-based team and a high pressing team. The inherent advantages of an inverted double-pivot rely on disrupting the other teams buildup while maintaining a classical W shape with the defenders. This would then develop in a transition with a compact advanced trident rushing forward while having numerous players also moving forward to provide a recycling opportunity. This breaks down ofc when the tips of the W can't move around enough to shield the backline and the trident ends up being the ones to provide the pressing transition. Providing different instructions for the pressing responsibilities was something considered too complex for a team to learn midseason. Even with all the struggles, the season ended on a high note. In the second to last game of the season FC Rio, in the dying minutes of the match, Managed to produce the goal of the season in order to push the league title race to go to the last game of the season. In the bad times its always important to hold onto the good moments.

APPROVED

He had just wanted to be able to show the world and the rest of the leagues what they can do given the right environment surrounding them. Well... we can probably chalk this one down as a very successful first season. Not only did Xherdan Xhaka land with a lovely team in Catalunya. The entire roster were lovely to play with and honestly it is an absolute shame that this relationship was unable to continue. Xherdan Xhaka signed a two year deal with catalunya and was looking to potentially start and finish his entire career at Catalunya. Clearly the start was a bit rough for Xherdan Xhaka as he was trying to make their splash in the league and find their feet within the team. It was a magical season. Not only did Catalunya have very few losses, but they managed to finish in 4th position in the Soccer Simulation league. Not an easy feat may I add! From an expansion team, to the 4th best team in the league within a season? It was the stuff of dreams to be honest. His 8 goals were third most in the league and his average rating of 7.24 was tied for 7th in the SSL. It was interesting campaign for the team that started with decent promise, but failed to make any strides when it mattered most. The team finished with 4 wins and 6 losses, finishing in 4th place in the league. While they had the 2nd most goals scored, they also had the 2nd most goals against. As everyone knows, that is usually not a winning formula. Benji Atreides had the most combined goals and assists for the squad, while playing 1 less match than most players on the Hollywood roster. The inaugural season for HFC was basically a tale of two halves. A decent start, followed by an extremely disappointing finish.

Despite the less than stellar display from the team as a whole, Tiki Taka still was able to cement himself as one of the best strikers in the league in his first season. Taka had the 2nd highest shots on target percentage between him and anyone with more goals than him in his rookie season. This first season of the league was a building block for many players as they learned how to gel with their team. Hollywood and other teams struggled to find that proper cohesion on the pitch. There were glimpses of brilliance, but the lack of consistency was an issue across the board for a number of squads.

Taka was diligent in his training throughout the season, and it showed. He was a decent leader on and off the field, and before the season ended, he became the player manger of Hollywood.
