Considering how Aimo's season has gone playing for the Montreal United one might argue he is a good contender for the rookie of the season award, though the competition is fierce once again. Despite only being a mere rookie in his first season Aimo has played 15 total games from start to finish, only coming off of the bench one time during a minor league game which they eventually ended up winning, so no harm in there. Playing in the cup with Montreal as presumably assumed did not go that well as their squad is in the middle of a major rehaul, but in that 1 and only game with Montreal Aimo was not that great, only being able to effectively draw fouls against him (4) in the 90 minute. He had many great positions to be able to score from (5 shots on goal total and .76xG) but he was not able to capitalize off of those chances - still a lot to learn from that. Quite the opposite from how he is able to perform in the minor league for Montreal so far, he has been able to score 8 goals (with xG of 6.44) so far more than expected, as well as being able to assist his teammates 6 times. His vision keeps on being the death of him as he has only been able to complete a little over 84% of his total passes made during the entire season, far too low atleast in my opinion. In the league he also has been able to draw lot of attention to him, being able to draw 2 or more fouls a game for the entire length of the season so far. On top of that he has always been able to produce at least 1 chance a game or even more, and bare in mind this is just a player who is in his rookie season just trying to get to know his teammates and the guy is balling.

Approved - Solid rookie season for sure! Best of luck!

#1 Biography

Ozzy Trent Kovács' Stockholm IK rookie season run
Bas Steekpaas back again after a season long break. I'm here to shed a light on Ozzy's rookie season in the SSL league. After a storming academy season being second highest on average rating, Ozzy was high on the list with the bookmakers to be first pick in the season draft.

It was AS Romana/Inter London that, according to their manager, against their expectations could get their hands on Ozzy's services for the upcoming seasons. And what a season it has been. Inter London and major team AS Romana are undergoing a rebuild so they're not as well rounded as they want to be. Inter finished dead last with only a single draw to its name and 21 losses. Scoring 29 and conceding a recond amount of 146 goals.

Ozzy, over to you. First of all, how do you feel about being drafted by the Romana/London organisation?
'It's great, I've had talks with quite a few of the organisations, but with AS I had the most natural talks, which didn't feel too much like a job interview. The atmosphere is good although the results this season have been quite tough.'

We've talked plentyful about your season at Stockholm, how did your academy season compare to your first season at Inter London?
'To keep it short, it was tough. We're a team in the proces of a rebuild and we felt that.'

Alright, let's look at the positives. You've played a different position compared to your season at Stockholm, from RAM to CAM, was that transition hard for you?
'Not really, I'm used to playing all the attacking midfield positions.'

If we look at your stats, last season with 6 goals and 9 assists you were part of 36% of Stockholms goals. This season with 5 goals and 5 assists you participated in 34% of the goals. Can you explain the small difference?
'I've worked hard over the summer to be prepared for the big step up in minor league compared to the academy. I'm happy I could still be a threat, but it was hard as the chances were scarse. Not much left of the leaky defenses from academy'

Looking forward, the organisation has a new assistent manager, do you foresee big changes in the near future?
'Hopefully we'll be more competitive next season, we'll have to wait and see.'

Good luck!
    'Thanks!'

Approved - being a part of 1/3 of your teams goals is wild!

Kaspars Kalinins is ready for his rookie season. He is finally a member of an SSL Franchise, and the team is already preparing for their future, dominating the central midfield. Kalinins is the only CDM in the system, and one of the only non CAM Central Midfielders. This means that the layer between the defense and the forwards is wide open, and much of the team’s tactical preparation will be ensuring that Kalinins is prepared to handle that role.

The first preparation will surely be to increase his running ability. He simply must be capable of arriving on the scene of whatever action, as not reaching that spot immediately ensures nothing positive can happen. Afterwards, there will be a concerted effort to improve his game sense, defensively, offensively, and most importantly, in transition.

While Kaspars will be suiting up for the Minors squad this season, all eyes are on his place in the Majors, and how quickly he could reach that level of talent. He’ll have to showcase his ability this season, his ability to control the field, manage the width, tempo, and pressure of the game all season, and build the chemistry with his current and ongoing teammates as they all progress through their careers.

There is an exceptional amount of young talent that Kaspars will get to play beside, learn from, and compete with on every play, and in every practice session. Not only his fellow draftees, but a whole stable of talents from the past few draft classes. Kalinins won’t have to be a star from game one, but he will have to keep up with the pace, and earn his place among his peers.

There’s certainly a lot of work to do, and even more to be excited about for Kaspars Kalinins’ Rookie Season, and I know we’re all excited to see how it will all turn out when we return next season to continue to chronicle his career.

Approved - Couldn't have said it better myself. Super excited to see what Kaspars brings to the league!

We'll soon find out who we are.

A fourth place finish in the Minors. And the same for our brethren in the Black Forest. Our worst in a long time, and still not that bad. The veterans assured us time and again that these were merely the pains of growth and transition. They held their heads high and so did I. As best I could.

But now they all need to step away. Transition for them leads to the sidelines, to the stands. Manager Dian stood on the touchline during the final games and none of us could ignore the tear in the corner of his eye, the occasional hitch in his voice.

Maxwell. Maximilliano. Cooper. Schenkinger. Whittington.

These are names of history now. His friends. My mentors. Their titles and trophies line the walls of our stadiums. Their legacy is a burden we now stand upon, and carry.

Growth. Transition.

My friends Matias and Tom and I were near the league lead in successful passes, right there with the well tuned setup of Paris. But now each of them shall fly across the ocean and step into the big league.

Thus it falls to Siddhartha to take on the mantle of leader. Rookies are coming in to camp. They are looking up to Siddhartha, and not only because his great body towers above them.

We must plant these new trees upon the Royal Mountain. We must make them climb to the great heights that are expected of us. Sidd is no longer a sapling, though he is not yet a great oak. The future and the sky await.

Transition. Growth. Trees must learn to stand tall and reach for greatness.

Please bring water.

Approved - Loving the energy Sidd is giving off.

The talking is almost done and the season is nearly here. Walker is keen to test himself in the minors to see how he matches up against the other top talent in the division. With considerable draft stock placed on this rookie, he will no doubt want to repay the faith the management here has shown in him. Being the all action player in the center of the midfield, it's looking like management will want him to be that bridge between defence and attack, a role he knows all to well having had something similar in the Academy.

With a pass percentage of 91.5% he will be able to dictate in the midfield if he is allowed, with no-one attempting more passes than him last season in the academy with 1,132. He will however want to cut through the opposition with more success having only be able to muster 12 key passes and 6 chances created. While he was the dictator, he has expressed previously he needs to be able to open up the opposition more and become more of a creative force.

He has expressed disappointment in his lack of goals in his academy season, so I should expect to see a slightly more aggressive offensive version of the player we seen last season. This I'm sure will be music to the ears of Masques Sacrés. More goals is always a good thing but with Walker's ability to also be defensively sound they will hope to having a more stable defensive base going forward will help their championship hopes.

Excitement is building around this young player and what he can do for this organisation, thankfully we don't have long to wait to see what exactly will transpire in the rookie season of this potential superstar. Will he take his chance and go on to become great, or like so many, will he be left by the wayside? Only time will tell.

Approved - Best of luck with Masques!

When Carolien Miedema was drafted by CF Catalunya/Seoul MFC ahead of the S19 SSL season, expectations were cautiously optimistic. The young striker arrived from the SSL Academy with an unstoppable motor and she is one of the smartest players on the pitch everytime she takes it.
She made 18 appearances and played 1,620 minutes. While her three goals and four assists might not leap off the stat sheet, her impact went beyond the numbers. With an expected goals (xG) of 3.71 she did perform near statistical expectation. But she would often creating danger through sharp positioning and quick plays.
Miedema’s tireless engine became one of Seoul’s quiet advantages. She covered an impressive 233.8 kilometers over the season, pressing high and tracking back in equal measure. Her 76% tackle success rate and 26 interceptions showcased her defensive contribution from the front, a trait rarely expected from a pure striker.
In possession, Miedema proved tidy and efficient. Her 80.66% passing accuracy across 455 attempts reflected both composure and awareness under pressure. She completed 367 successful passes and registered 16 key passes. Which was good for 11 total chances.
Where she struggled was aerially and in crossing situations. She only won 10 of 71 headers and had a 6.25% cross completion rate. Miedema seemed to often find herself outmuscled against SSL’s more physical defenders. Still her growing chemistry with Seoul’s wingers and attacking midfielders hinted at untapped potential.
Earning one Player of the Match honor and maintaining a solid 6.71 average rating, Miedema’s rookie campaign wasn’t explosive but it was foundational. For a young player who was just getting started, she showed the mental fortitude coaches crave.
As Seoul MFC looked to refine their attack next season, Carolien Miedema remained central to their long term vision at that time. She plays with poise. She also has a lot of room to grow and while her rookie year may not have rewritten record books it quietly wrote the first chapter of what could become a remarkable SSL story.

Approved - A successful rookie season no question!

The draft has concluded, which means it's finally time for Freddy Adu to make his debut in the minor leagues! Adu's journey began in the Academy, where he played CAM for Adowa Accra in an up and down season for both him and the club. While he came into the season touted as a world class passer, it was Adu's finishing that really stole the limelight. This was on display all season long, as he scored 10 goals on 11 shots on target. While one or two of these were impressive strikes, most of his goals came from putting himself in the right place at the right time, making runs in the box when his playmakers had the ball. His skills were fully on display in a game against Sydney City, where he finished with 4 goals and 1 assist in a decisive victory for Adowa. Outside of goal scoring, however, the season was somewhat of a disappointment for Freddy. He finished with just the 1 assist, and only generated 2 chances and 10 key passes in his 14 appearances. As someone who prides himself on being a player that creates chances for others, this was pretty discouraging. All in all, Adu views it as a learning experience and is ready to improve in his first minor league season.

Moving forward into Season 23, Adu will part of a strong draft class in the Hollywood organization. The draftees are all expected to be contributors to F.C. Kaapstad, who is coming off a successful season where they finished as league runner up. The roster is pretty experienced for a minor league team, and there are a lot of strong veterans for Adu to learn from. Coming off of an Academy season where Adu was expected to score a lot of goals, he will now be able to take a step back and be a smaller part of his new team, giving him a chance to become a facilitator again and create chances for the other talented playmakers on the attack. The sky is the limit for both Adu and the Hollywood organization, and he can't wait to get to work and see what they can accomplish!

Approved - Adu is going to be electric in the middle just wait and see!

Career Task 1

Lucas Peioxoto did not have to wait long before hearing his name called in the S23 SSL Draft, as Hollywood FC selected him with the 6th pick of the 1st round. Sources within Peioxoto's camp say that he had conversations with multiple members of the Hollywood management prior to the draft and was ecstatic to be selected by a team that could match his ambitions. Surely, the org will be excited as well, after losing Kaapstad's left back to retirement, to add potentially the top left back in the class. Lucas Peioxoto's career got off to a hot start with 8 assists in his first 7 games for Atletico Medellin. He ended the academy season having the 3rd highest match rating(7.44), highest expected assist total(7.39), tied for highest assist total(9), 2nd most chances created(20), 4th most dribbles(55), and 3rd most tackles(48). Undoubtedly Peioxoto will be asked to remain at left back and start for an FC Kaapstad side that will be aiming to contend for the Minor League Trophy.

As Peioxoto arrives in South Africa to begin training, we have heard reports that a large are of emphasis will be placed on his development as part of the back four. At Medellin his role often promoted bombing upfield and letting the rest of the defense cover him on the back end. The stiffer competition in the SSL minor league will place extra emphasis on his aerial abilities, where he performed poorly in the academy, and on being defensively engaged for all 90 minutes. Look for Peioxoto to spend most of his early season efforts on adapting to the physicality of the minors. Luckily Kaapstad has plenty of veteran SSL experience and has finished in the top 3 of the minors in each of the past four seasons. Peioxoto and his fellow rookies, Freddy Adu and Bad Wolf, will have plenty of experience to lean on whether it comes from the Kaapstad veterans or the highly respected Hollwood management. They are all expected to have pivotal roles in the potential title push.

Approved - Best of luck in Peioxoto's rookie campaign!

Career Task 1

Going into his rookie season, Sanji just wanted to find a place where he could make a difference somewhere he could grow and become part of a team that was improving together. After all, where’s the fun in joining a team that’s already stacked? On a rebuilding team, everyone has to work hard. Growth becomes a shared effort. With that in mind, Sanji was thrilled to be picked up by A.C. Romana and to play his rookie season in London for their minor league squad. He was eager to get to work and make an impact. Sanji knew the road ahead would be rough and it sure was. Over the course of the season, London won only 3 games, had 1 draw, and lost 14. They were scored on more than twice as many times as they scored themselves and ouch. Still, everyone knew this was going to be a tough journey, and that the effort would pay off in the long run. Individually, Sanji had plenty to be proud of. He never missed a game, started every match, and was never subbed out. He earned Player of the Match honors twice and scored 11 of the team’s 22 goals, exactly half of their total for the season. His favorite stat, though, was his perfect penalty record, three attempts, three goals. There might not be much to celebrate yet, but this is just the beginning of Sanji’s career in the SSL. He has plenty of time to make a name for himself. Looking ahead, Sanji hopes to be called up to the majors next season, where he can start testing himself against the league’s top players. Until that day comes, Sanji just keeps working on improving his skills so that one day his team will be the best team in the league, but until that time comes, he's got a lot of work to do!

Approved - Sanji is one of my favorite renders. Hoping for a good career for you!

Throughout his career Bob Berendsen has never been the fastest, he was not the most technical, never scored the most goals or made the most assists. However what he lacked in skills he has always made up for in determination.

Coming in to the draft Bob was conflicted, on the one hand he had many great conversations with with scouts and managers alike, so he knew there was interest. However looking at all the great players around him, players that outshone him in the academy, he could not help but wonder if he was going to have to wait for a while before he would hear his name.

He had tried to remain impartial ofcourse, convincing himself that he would be happy to join any organisation but ofcourse he had his preferences. During the weeks leading up to the draft he had developed a friendly relationship with the AM of USP: Roquefort. Bob was sold on the vision of the organisation and his mind was set.

When draft day came so did the nerves, "who will get me, which round will I go, will I like my new team" were all questions going through Bob's mind.

He watched in bated breath as the picks started to go, players he had played with and against started getting drafted and then it happened, in the first round, 8th oa USP picked Bob.

He was elated, in celebration he started playing brazillian music and cha cha dancing.

All the hard work had paid off, not only did he get drafted in the first round in a class of many world class talents, he got drafted by his dream team. Bob took that day to celebrate knowing the offseason would be one of hard work.

As he woke up the next day hungover it really sunk in, he actually did it. However he did not dwell on his success, knowing that there was a lot of work to do.
He knew he would join the minors team AS Paris first, the team had a spot open as Right Wing Back. This is not a position Bob was comfortable in so he would spend the next weeks in offseason trying to perfect the role.

Unfortunately he was unable to master the new role in a short time so he will need some games to get a feel for it, but Bob knew that he would take this opportunity with both hands.
He vowed to himself that he will win the minors league with AS Paris in his first season, whatever the cost.

Approved - Good luck Bob! You'll have to teach McTendie the Chacha sometime
