RE: #1 Biography - boom - 2025-09-26 Orla Hughes-Galloway was born in Dublin, Ireland, and is the youngest of three kids. The oldest is her brother Ryan, who's a university student, and a sister Caitlin who's a year older and just starting her journey as a professional hockey player. As a kid, Orla was always full of energy and loved to play sports, taking up soccer from a very young age and quickly excelling. With soccer being a big sport in Ireland, she had the opportunity to face stiff competition and develop her skills. At every level she played at, Orla would get positive attention from her coaches for her speed, creativity and ball-handling skills, but her abilities to read plays and make smart decisions were always mentioned as things she needed to work on improving in order to keep progressing to the next level. Orla kept moving up through the Irish youth system on her physical skills and ball-handling talent, a sharp contrast to her sister who was a much more cerebral athlete using her vision and patience to make the correct plays. Orla's talents eventually got her noticed by scouts in the SSL system who considered her a project but, if her decision-making skills could be worked out, potentially one of the most exciting talents in the league. In the spring, Caitlin made the decision to take a leap of faith and move to North America in order to pursue her dream as a professional hockey player, and Orla chose to follow in her sister's footsteps and try to do the same in soccer. She was taken into the league's intake program and placed on Istanbul FK, where she would play a season before being drafted by an SSL program proper and really starting her journey into professional soccer. In the Academy, Orla would learn to round out her game into a more consistent and smarter player in order to set herself up for long-term success in the SSL. Approved - And we can't wait to get her back home to Ireland! RE: #1 Biography - McLumberjack - 2025-09-29 Bob Berendsen was always played as a striker throughout his time playing at youth level. The coaches saw his 191cm and strong built and just imagined a target forward. However throughout his youth career he never excelled, he never seemed fully confident. All the coaches saw he had potential but it just never quite worked out. Bob kept working at it, trying to improve different area's of his game. After another disappointing year at striker Bob started getting benched in favor for different attacking options. It got to the point where he was seriously considering stopping his pursuit of football. That season where his youth team ended bottom of the league and it almost made Bob decide to throw in the towel. His youth team ended up last in their division, demoting to a lower one causing the manager to quit, in comes the new manager Crohan Juyff. Crohan Juyff took a good look a the squad in training and he saw something in Bob, however where previous coaches saw him as an out and out striker, Crohan saw something different. He started playing him as an left inside forward and Bob took to the position like a fish to water. The new position allowed Bob to shine, his playmaking abilities now being used. All this caused Bob's confidence to skyrocket, meaning even his goalscoring record improved beyond what it ever was at striker. In his first season playing as a left inside forward he scored 21 goals and assisted 25 making him the topscorer and assister in the division. He also led the team to promotion. The next season they were playing in the top youth level in the country, playing well here will get eyes on you from clubs all over Europe. The season started well for Bob, he scored 3 times in the first 4 games, assisting another 2. However then the worst thing happened, Bob was dribbling past a player and a very reckless tackle hit his leg breaking it in two places. Laying on the field in pain he felt like his career might be over. The club doctors predicted he would be out for at least 6 months, missing the entire season. Instead of laying down and accepting his faith Bob worked only harder, he spend all his time doing physical therapy, made sure his diet was good. Even with his left leg in a cast he was doing juggling with balls, using his crutches to train shooting. Anything he could do to speed up recovery. To the surprise of the doctors he recovered quicker than expected, within 3 months he was able to run and start slowly training with the team again. After 4 months he got selected as a substitute for the first time. His team had been struggling and was firmly in the relegation zone once again, with 8 games left to go it was going to be a hard fought relegation battle. Bob was watching from the bench as his team goes down 1-0, 2-0,3-0 by halftime it was already looking like it was over. Crohan Juyff turns to Bob during the half time break and asks him if he can play, Bob says an emphatic: YES! and was subbed in. In the next 45 minutes Bob scores a hattrick and assists another bringing it back to 3-4. After this he does not leave the starting eleven for the rest season. Scoring 10 goals and assisting 12 in the last 8 games, saving the club from relegation. Bob's love for the game was reignited and he was more motivated than ever, when the SSL came knocking to recruit him to their Academy program he took the opportunity with both hands. He will be sad to leave Crohan Juyff, the coach who believed in him and gave him so many opportunities but he is excited to see where playing for Adowa Accra FC will take him Approved - Glad Bob is healthy now and in the SSL! RE: #1 Biography - Fluw - 2025-09-29 Dimitrios Karras was born and grew up in the city of Thessaloniki, Greece. In his formative years, Dimitiros was never interested in much other than having fun with his group of friends which typically resulted in them roaming the streets, orchards, hillsides of Thessaly and getting into trouble. Life was boring, school was boring so why not steal some olives from the orchard, or play stupid games at the expense of residents for the sake of a laugh. Not exactly the kinds of kids you want your kid hanging around, but that was Dimitrios, life was boring. Eventually, his antics caught up with him and he was put into a situation where his friends had pointed the finger at him when the local restaurateurs moped was missing. Now, Dimitiros never stole it, but having a sense of loyalty to his friends he took the fall for them. Naturally, his parents were livid with his string of behaviour and decided enough was enough, and they sent Dimitrios to live with his grandparents in the Kastoria, a village in western macedonia that is nestled in the mountains. Separated from his friends in the city, and in an area that is fairly rural, Dimitiros found himself bored again, however without is friends and being new to the locale, he simply turned to be much more reserved in his approach to life. One day while, kicking some rocks through the town he happened upon some local youths playing soccer, and as he was walking by they had called out to him. They were down a player, and asked if Dimitrios wanted to join in. Out of sheer boredom or curiosity, he joined in what he thought was a silly game, and ended up realizing he was a natural at the sport. Dimitrios very easily kept up with the others playing, and impressed with his play one of the other children playing there invited Dimitrios to try out for their local U14 Squad. Naturally, he gave it a shot not expecting much and to his surprise? He made the team as an extra. (348 words) Approved - And thus Dimitrios journey to the SSL began. Can't wait to hear more! RE: #1 Biograph - Froste39 - 2025-10-05 Kaspar Talvik has been born in the vicinity of Tallinn, capital of Estonia. Son to a middle school teacher and a professional hockey player, you could expect that his career path, at least regarding sports was clear. Karl Talvik of course did his best to open a lot of doors in youth league programs, hockey schools and by asking fellow players, collecting some favours to provide his son Kaspar with the best hockey education you can get around Tallinn. Yet Kaspar felt like just going through the motions on most days. Like his father he quickly found himself in the position of Goalie, yet it didn‘t really fulfill him. He felt restricted, confined to a small goalie area, weighed down by all his protective equipment. He also had a glaring weakness, which was his stickhand-side, which opponents began to target almost exclusively, for good reason. His glovehand in return however was unbeatable. He was pretty much the best puckcatcher of hos age in Estonia, but lacked talent on the other side, making him predictable. He then tried to compensate by going for dives with the glovehand. One day however a group of former school friends took him to a local soccer game in Tallinn and there he saw it. The freedom in play he always longed for, a soccer goalie flying around his penalty area, catching shots and crosses alike. Kaspar of course had known about the sport but never saw it up close. He pondered long about how to proceed but took heart and told his mother about his wish to switch to soccer, mainly because he did not want to disappoint his father who invested so much. And devastated he was when he was later told by both. However he accepted his sons decision and supported his humble beginnings in a local team. His talent was undeniable and paired with newfound motivation, saw his actual play impress teammates and opponents alike. It didn‘t take too long to rise in the local team hierarchy up to the point where scouts from the SSL offered Kaspar a place in the SSL draft. With S23 rapidly approaching, Kaspar has been transferred to Stockholm, thankfully not a far journey for him, to show his talent to the Academy, awaiting a high draft placement. His goal? To be the first Goalie drafted for starters. Down the line? Becoming a SSL legend of course! Approved - Best of luck with all of your goals (and keeping them from happening on the pitch) Kaspar! RE: #1 Biography - retuperkele - 2025-10-06 Silakka got to bathe in his fathers glory after his hard earn career after coming from poor conditions, and Aimo junior had it way easier for him than what his father endured, the same player who eventually played almost his entire career for the Buenos Aires organisation in the SSL. Funnily enough Aimo Silakka was born in Argentina during his fathers career but eventually they moved to his fathers old childhood corners, but to a much nicer area. Korso did not serve a purpose for Aimo and his family anymore so they settled in Westend, one of the most wealthiest places in all of Finland. That was where he first picked up football for good, playing for FC Honka juniors all throughout his junior years before eventually moving onto bigger leagues to play for FC Haka in the finnish 2nd division football. That was where his risk of moving towns and teams for more playing time paid out, as he finished his first season at Valkeakoski as the 3rd highest goal contributor for his team with 7 goals and 8 assists for 15 total contributions, in his first year if I may remind people - but that only showed him that finnish football was not qualified enough for him to be able to grow more as a player and even more as a person, so when the scouting team came calling from Istanbul FK he did not think twice, since Turkey is far more enhanced than Finland is in terms of football, but he did not last there long as he got picked up by Montreal out of all teams, maybe not the most ideal location for a football team but it did pay more and played higher quality football in general. After a rocky start there he is finally catching up his old form, and only time will tell what kind of quality baller he is going to become.. 319 words Approved RE: #1 Biography - Sinister - 2025-10-17 Killua Zoldyck Jr was born in the south part of the United States in Dallas, Texas. He's been around soccer ever since he was a kid as his dad Killua Zoldyck was a soccer player himself and actually went pro in SSL for a little bit before retiring. Surprisingly Killua Jr was never too interested in soccer as he just kinda felt that was his whole life because of his dad so he never played it competitively until his senior year of high school. He had always messed around with the ball with his friends or helping his dad warm up but this was the first time he actually decided to take it serious. His dad had just retired and had missed the soccer in his life so stepped up to the plate. During his senior year he would end up becoming a superstar leading his team all the way to the state championship where he would win the game for the team scoring 3 goals! Ever since this year it was easy for him to set his future on becoming a soccer player. His dad was a huge support in this career path which made it extremely easy for him to persuade and try it out. He would bounce around from club to club trying to find the right spot. He would soon become one of the best young players in the world which would finally get him enough recognition and with a little bit of his dad's influence and help to get into the SSL academy draft. He's been working ever since that senior year of high school for this moment and it's finally arrived for him. No moment has ever been too big for Killua and he hopes to surpass his dad's legacy and make a name for himself in the league that won't be forgotten! 309 Words Approved RE: #1 Biography - Nike - 2025-10-26 Dwayne Pruney was born in London to a small family; A small, hardworking, blue collar family. His father was a window washer. The kind of gentleman, who would jig himself up to London’s ever growing number of larger than life buildings. As the cities population continued to grow, so did Pruney’s father’s business just as quickly as his son would. While the growing business did provide some flexibility in the family’s finances, it never interrupted the family’s attachment to their home grown roots. Pruney grew up knowing that he might not be the most well to do footballer in the city. He did, though, understand that your family’s reputation can carry you much further than the newest pair of boots might. Because Pruney was raised in a hard working and blue collar family, he has that superb ability to persevere when the times are tough. He picked up soccer from a young age. Before the family window washing business had taken off, Pruney was leaving nose prints in the glass of store fronts around town that sold kits of his favorite players. Of course, Wayne Rooney was his favorite. After all, their names were so close. Picking up the game was easy for a young man who did not necessarily come from means as well; there was always a game available in the neighborhood and the game as it is played in London’s streets don’t require any equipment. The young man learned the game from the community. While his father was out building the family business, his mother tended to their home. She never was much fond of sport, but also never swayed her son from following his dreams. And soon, those dreams would become reality as the young player found himself progressing further and further into the ranks of English football. From a young, blue collar raised boy, to a potential budding superstar. The future is still unwritten, of course. However, I think most believe that if Dwayne has any of the “can do” that his father used to build their own family business, he’ll become a household name before we know it. Approved - A bright future ahead for Dwayne! RE: #1 Biography - Opera_Phantom - 2025-10-28 The Cue family comes from Portugal, as most people who read a bit must know. A family known for the amount of incredible athletes it produced and continues to produce, in every type of sport we can find online. Football, soccer, ice hockey, even baseball, if it is a sport, you will find some Cue member there, that is for sure. In some sports, you might even find them spread out across multiple leagues. Sometimes even with the same damn name, nobody knows exactly why, as they are definitely not from Alabama. As we know, Portugal is a soccer powerhouse, where most kids just join their local teams to practice the sport, so it is no surprise that Jay Cue Jr. decided to go through that route as well. Being fast as lightning since a baby, his first coach in the youth teams just decided he should play on the wing, and since he uses mainly his right foot, the right side it is. Smartly, that same coach figured out that he would be a lot more dangerous not playing in attack, as a winger, but coming from the back, so he would reach the final third of the pitch already in full speed, which meant that the opposing defenders could not catch them (if they could). With this, the overlap (shout out to that show) on the right side happening so often during the games, he racked up a lot of assists all the way through his teens, playing for the youth team. Obviously that having speed and just that is not enough, the more you go through the ranks, so Cue Jr. is also a very good in crossing the ball and dribbling, again, making him a very big threat if given the space on the right side of the offense. Let us wait and see how he does when he gets to the minor league in the SSL. Approved - Hopefully Cue Jr. is a budding superstar! RE: #1 Biography - lemonoppy - 2025-10-29 Lisfor ilovezeagLe is a confused individual, coming from South Korea with a name like that? Very strange, but it looks like that's just the way it is. IlovezeagLe is a player who loves to dribble down the line, speeding towards the net, using the byline and touchline as his traps to lure in unsuspecting defenders who think they have the advantage in space. However, this is not always to be the case, while his talent and eye for judging and anticipating the personalities and actions of others on the pitch might have carried him this far, to the academy of the SSL, he was given strict feedback from his youth coach, his antics on the side were wasted, taking so many steps and actions when Lisfor could do so much more effective work in the middle. People have called him an physical attributes abuser, a raw pace and accel merchant who was playing for his own ego, and not for the team and the wins for them. This attitude will be one to look out for in the SSL, and to see if coming up in the academy and then into the minors is something that helps ilovezeagle grow, or maybe this ego driven play style is exactly what he needs and will drive him to excellence. One thing about ilovezeagle, however, is that he's got a footedness problem, and this has been deliberately spotted and instructed upon by his coaches, if he loves dribbling down the line so much, but is very right footed, he'll have to figure out what he can do on the left wing. The main goal for ilovezeagle this season is to get that footedness sorted out, if he can improve his ability to play on both sides of the pitch, his anticipation and physical prowess should get him to become a true threat in any part of the attacking third. Approved - Keep workin on those feet! RE: #1 Biography - LtForestPuppy - 2025-10-30 Born in Groningen, Netherlands, Carolien Miedema’s life has always revolved around the sound of a football striking against brick walls and the cheers echoing from local pitches. Growing up in a small, football obsessed household, Carolien was introduced to the game almost as soon as she could walk. Her father, a former semi professional player, recognized her sharp instincts and natural composure in front of goal from an early age. By six, she was already training with boys’ teams at SC Stadspark, fearlessly taking on players twice her size. At twelve Carolien joined FC Groningen’s youth academy. Her raw potential began to form into something extremely special. Though she briefly experimented with midfield roles, it was her killer instinct near the box that set her apart. Coaches often described her as ice cold under pressure. She was always able to find calm in chaos and turn half chances into goals. Her finishing technique and timing mirrored the classic Dutch strikers of old. She was efficient, intelligent, and she seemed to always be in the right place at the right time. Her teenage years brought her first setback. A ligament injury at sixteen sidelined her for months. She was heartbroken but pushed through her rehab. And when she returned, she came back with renewed hunger. She improved her movement off the ball and added a more physical edge to her play. By seventeen, she was leading the Groningen U19s in goals. This helped her earn her reputation as one of the brightest young forwards in the Netherlands. When the Simulation Soccer League expanded its international scouting program, Carolien’s name quickly surfaced. Her trial with the SSL Academy was nothing short of electric showcasing her blend of sharp positioning, quick acceleration, and instinctive finishing. Coaches praised not just her talent, but her professionalism and quiet drive to improve every session. And that she did quickly showing why she deserved to be a top pick in the S19 draft class. Approved - Better late then never in the career PT game! |
