Hailing from a small village in the suburbs of Quebec City, Pierre Houde has been a dominating the youth leagues in the region ever since he was just a child. He was ruthless on the pitch, so much so that parents refused to send their kids against the almighty Pierre Houde. After he was suspended for a complete season for dislocating the knees of all forwards on a team when he was 8 years old, his parents sent him to play soccer in Europe, where he learned that it was better to channel his agression and a keep a calm mind on the pitch. After his suspension was over, Pierre went back to Quebec and had a complete season without a single foul, impressing both parents and coaches alike. His high-efficiency in defense made him a sought-after prospect by youth academies. He signed with a youth academy that shall remain nameless and wasn't really treated well there. He then relapsed into his old habits of tackling way too hard and losing his temper at every little thing that didn't go his way. Shortly after signing, he was let go from the academy and told he would never make it as a professional football / soccer player.

Pierre's confidence took a hit, so he decided to explore other sports. He tried playing hockey but couldn't skate. He tried playing basketball but couldn't be a consistent shooter. He tried american football but didn't like it. He found a new passion in rugby, where he could use his anger and aggression. He quickly found out that he wasn't good at tackling, but he enjoyed it. He played for a while, but his heart wasn't in it, he really wanted to go back to soccer. He disregarded what the youth academy told him and he worked really hard on his game, watching hours of footage and working endlessly on the pitch. He played in some adult leagues, but his anger problem were still bugging him. Someone noticed he had problems with his agressivity and suggested he takes on yoga. He fell in love with yoga and his now a certified yoga instructor. With his anger problems a thing of the pass, Pierre enrolled in a rookie camp to try and get the attention of a club from the SSL, hopefully it works out for him!

APPROVED

Jaume Vila, similar to numerous football stars, was born in Barcelona, Spain. Growing up, he lived and breathed the sport along with his considerably wealthy parents, who were able to give him great opportunities to prove his skills. From the young age of seven, he was entered into a local youth academy because his father had a close connection with the owner. Though he might have been luckier than many of his counterparts, it didn’t mean he played any worse. In fact, Vila was one of the standouts simply because of his physical skills. First off, he could absolutely fly. If you got him the ball on the wing, he could take it from goal box to goal box quicker than the defense could react. He was also a hard worker, the first one in and the last one out. A large field in his own backyard allowed him to practice constantly on his own while not training with others at his academy.

The establishment and subsequent rise of the Simulation Soccer League, or SSL for short, gave a new avenue to young prospects who were looking to get their name on the map. Although Vila himself was too young at the time to play in the inaugural seasons, he was an avid fan of his own local team - Catalunya C.F. The SSL ran a more Americanized system for league entry, so rather than signing with the team of his choice, he had to impress all the managers as a draftee. His aforementioned physical skillset raised eyebrows early on and Jaume made clear in pre-draft interviews that he is open to playing for any club, despite his affinity for Catalunya. It was in his hardworking nature to make a name for himself anywhere he went. Draft day came and went, and when the dust settled, Vila was on his way to Argentina to play for Club Atlético Buenos Aires. The new expansion team wanted to focus on their youth for the future so they worked to get three 1st round picks - one of which was used on Vila.

And that’s where Jaume’s story is paused for now. Hopefully, the speedy left-wingback can make a strong impression for his new club and cement his legacy in the SSL.

APPROVED

Jay Jay Okocha hails from Enugu, Nigeria.

As a child, he would play football anytime he could manage on the street. All he needed was a round object that could act as a makeshift ball and it was golden. It quickly became his passion and he gained a strong love for the game.

He would start off his professional career at an academy in Enugu. He would shine early on with his immense dribbling skills that would leave his opponents in the dust. He was hard to bring down and had an awareness of the field like no other. It seemed that if he touched the ball, it would either result in a goal or an assist. His performances in the academy were impressive enough that he signed his first professional contract with the Enugu Rangers.

With the Enugu Rangers, Okocha continued to shine. After providing nearly a goal contribution in only 20-30 minutes off the bench in his first few games, Okocha was given his first start. In his first start against Shooting Stars FC, JJ Okocha wowed spectators with his play. In the first half, he would find a teammate with perfect precision to open up the scoring, and later in the second half, he would dribble past the entire Shooting Stars defense and then chip the goalkeeper to widen the lead. Rangers would defeat Shooting Stars 3-1 and Jay Jay Okocha started to rise to prominence.

He would accomplish many impressive feats in the Nigerian Premier League with moves that would routinely pop up on highlight reels. His most impressive feat was taking possession from midfield, running past the midfield, rainbow flicking past a defender, and finally rounding the goal to score in a Premier League game.

At the end of the season, the Rangers would finish 4th in the league, their best position in the league in years. They would also make the Nigerian FA Cup. Okocha contributed with a game-tying assist to push the game to penalties. However, he would hit the sidebar with the final penalty as the Rangers would lose heartbreakingly.

In the offseason, Okocha met up with one of his friends in the SSL and asked if he could train with the team. They allowed him to and he impressed yet again with his skills and playmaking. The head coaches asked if he was considering joining the upcoming SSL Draft. Okocha was initially hesitant at first, but after a long thought process, he decided to put his name in the ring for the draft process.

While Okocha has succeeded early on with his dribbling skills and playmaking, one area he struggles in is his determination. He loves the game of football, but he sees it as something to enjoy and not as something to dedicate their life to. "There's no point in playing if there's no fun to be had" is something he'd say on a regular basis. We'll see if this thought process will limit his progress or will allow him to easily surpass hardships.

APPROVED

Coming from the Netherlands, soccer was always a huge sport for Malakai Black. But, it was never a sport that he saw himself playing, never mind playing professionally. It started off as a little bit of a hobby for Black. He would go into the gym and kick a ball around. The funny part was, it was always at wrestling camp. He was more of a wrestling fan and was always at wrestling school, but he always had a soccer ball. Just how a lot of hockey players play around with a soccer ball to get warmed up and ready, Black would do that before wrestling camp. He learned how to do so much during wrestling camp, but he worked on his acting which is pretty important as a soccer player. Well, I am kind of kidding, but not really. I do think the biggest thing that he learned was more about his fitness as it is tough to be a wrestler, there is so much you need to do.

From there, one day, a person came into the school and saw him juggling the ball. He had a soccer team that he was running. It was just a U18 league, so he decided to ask Black if he wanted to join. And, it was all old news from there. His parents always did not want Black to be a wrestler, he would rather him do a real sport. In the Netherlands, there is no better sport to join than soccer. Soccer was obviously big in the Netherlands with the National Team being so important to everyone. He would join and then scouts would start noticing him. He would eventually be invited to the United States to play soccer. He would end up making the Netherlands national youth team before him being approached by the SSL. Well, you know what the deal is from there.

Change is coming, but his parents are more than happy to watch him in the SSL. With him being in Australia now, his parents can visit some games and watch him play. His dad likes nothing more than to yell at him from the sidelines. He will continue to cement his legacy as a top player in the SSL.

APPROVED

Football has always been very popular in Sweden, even though it may not produce the biggest stars or have the largest leagues on the continent. Mostly everyone plays football as a kid at some point, and Patrik was no different. Growing up in Stockholm, on the north side, he would spend almost every day after school playing football in one of the smaller inner-city football pitches. Growing up in a small apartment and being the youngest of three children, he spent most of his time outdoors as a kid and almost all that time was spent playing football. He didn't play organised football until he was 14 years old, when his parents signed him up to play for Vasalunds IF. He quickly found that he enjoyed the organised game a lot more than what he had played previously as the larger pitch allowed him to really make use of his vision and ability to read the game. He continued to evolve as a player but never was the star of the team and it wouldn't be wrong the make the argument that perhaps he enjoyed not being in the center of attention. He much preferred being a solid and reliable player that was not expected to perform miracles for his team every match. If people didn't notice him, thats all well and good, that just means he wasn't making many mistakes and that was good enough for him. He was never a highly touted prospect in the Swedish national system or anything like that, just a low-key player that did the right thing and played well enough. At age 19 he moved to the city of Uppsala to study and while there was picked up by the Swedish 2nd division team IFK Uppsala. Here, he really began to grow as a player as he met new players, new coaches and a new system which he really thrived under. At age 20, after a year with IFK Uppsala, he started to garner some light interest from international teams as well as top Swedish teams. And after hearing about his selection by Tokyo in the inaugural SSL draft, he decided to take a hiatus from his studies and pursue a career in professional sports.

APPROVED

The kid, the prodigy, the one who stood against all odds and managed to fight his way to HJK's academy, from Korso, out of all towns in Finland. This is the story, of Aimo Tälli.

Aimo Tälli was born in Korso, Espoo, into very poor conditions. Korso has a reputation of being the capital of violence, drugs, and gang activity. It was not an easy life, but he managed to adapt to his childhood environment very quickly. It was not out of the ordinary for Aimo to have fellow less fortunate one go up to him and have a chat, while being intoxicated out of his/her mind.

One thing caught Aimo's eye very early on, and that was football, which he managed to watch behind the fence of the local football field, where Korso's local team played very low division football. This was the moment where he fell in love with the game, only to spend every second, every minute, and every hour of his life on the other side of those said fences, just to escape the harsh reality they called "his life"

Eventually came the day, when Aimo's parents saw him improve significantly, so they put up all their savings together, and traveled all the way to Helsinki, the capital of Finland, to have him up for a tryout in HJK's academy team meant for young boys his age, from 6-8years old. Because Aimo always wanted to be the one orchestrating where the ball would play, the academy coach put him at center forward, aka false nine, where his role was to heavily support his wingers. At the training ground, Aimo was unstoppable. Nobody could ever catch up to him, as he was much faster than other children at his age, he was also very intelligent for a baller his age, as the time he did not spend training at the field, he did watch every Korso FC's game whenever they played, and he could see it.

It did not take long for the academy coach to approach Aimo Tälli, only to congratulate him on making the academy team. His parents were filled with joy, as now Aimo's passion became their family's passion.

365 words

APPROVED

Every kid in the neighbourhood Giannis grew up was playing football. He was not that special. He was average, the other kids were better than him in every aspect but one. He could see the field like nobody else. But he was not technical enough. He was fast, and agile however. And he was tireless. He was the only kid to never break sweat, even after four or five hours of playing. That was his greatest weapon when his father signed him up for the local team. A player with insane vision, great speed and pace, and a never ending gas tank. He was only 8 when he started, and he already had that in his arsenal. All he needed was to work hard, and the sky would be his limit. Unfortunately for him, he would always have to play with older kids, as he was too good to play with kids of his age, so he lacked in the strength department. But when he had the ball in his feet, he was trouble. He would not pull the flashy dribble, he would not find his teammate with a 40 or 50 metre long ball. But he would always do the right play and move the right way to receive the ball back from a one-two. That for 90 minutes and then some. Parents were suspicious he had a third lung. He did not, but he looked like he had. But even then, there were times he was bodied out of the way hard. Nothing illegal, but it was hard. One game he was about to receive a return pass from a one-two, when he was bodied out of the way, and his team conceded on the counter, a goal that cost them the championship. He was mad. Mostly at himself. He stayed for hours after the game. He was lifting weights like a madman. Slowly, his body started changing. Lifting weights, along with puberty, did wonders to his body. He was the one bodying dudes left, right, and center now. But technique was still an issue, according to some. It's not like a wingback needed technique back then, but the game was fastly developping. He was an athlete, but he was not a football player. Or so they thought. He had spent all summer lifting weights and working on his game. The body changes were visible, the skill changes were not. In the first preseason game, everyone was shocked to see the scrawny kid with little to no technique being replaced by a well built young man that charmed the ball with his skillset. He had developped a deep long ball, he could keep the ball in his feet and throw defenders on the ground, he could run, he could cross, he could score. But most importantly, he had proved to everyone that he was a hard working expletive. And that skillset got him in SSL.

APPROVED

Pascal Anivierre was born in the beautiful outskirts of Versailles, France, and enjoyed every part of his life from the moment he was born. He always loved to kick around anything he found on the ground as a child, and often aimed for a specific tree or bush to try and boot fruit cores into. His parents caught this trend quite early, and at the young age of 5, Pascal was entered into his first football league. His mother had never been a huge football fan, but enjoyed watching some games from time to time. His father, on the other hand, was an avid fan of National 2 team Stade Malherbe Caen, attending matches whenever possible. Michael Anivierre was in fact a former Caen players, ranging from fullback to attacking midfielder, always on the right side, and Michael soon found his son took after his father. Pascal typically hung around the middle of the field, placing himself near the action but not always in it. He continued this trend all the way up to middle school football, where actual strategies and assignments began to affect how Pascal played the game. In his first game, Pascal scored two goals from the right on the attacking midfielder assignment, playing the inverted winger role to perfection. As the season went on, the young Anivierre slowly turned into the best player the team had to offer, and shortly had offers from two travel teams to join them in the offseason. Pascal chose to join FC Villepreux, a smaller club but one that he would get to play often and well. And play well he did, earning his way to a trial with two amateur clubs in the region as well as attracting interest from scouts around a few of the best teams in the country. Chief among these were OM and Paris FC, who both believed Pascal could be the next Messi if he was trained properly. However, after several stunning seasons and graduating, Pascal broke his left arm in a car accident that also caused a muscle in his left leg to be torn. This took him off the pitch for 15 months, and when he returned, he didn't have the original flash he once did. Thus, Pascal has decided to join the SSL and see if he can rehabilitate in an environment where he has the potential to become one of the best ever.

APPROVED

Growing up in Poznan, Poland, Jay Bryzski fell in love with football at a young age. His parents were both football players with his mom getting a few caps with the Polish women's national team, while his dad played over a decade of lower league football. His first gift he could remember was a soccer ball, he wasn't able to do much more then kick or throw it across the hallway but he would do it for hours every day. Once Jay was old enough, we participated in football camps until he was given an invitation to Lech Poznan FC's youth academy. For most of the time Bryzski didn't do much to stand out, he wasn't a flashy goal scorer and wouldn't be the player to dribble through a whole team. He didn't really standout in any of the big time positions, not physical enough to play CB, not good enough passer or reader of the game to be a CM and wasn't clinical enough to be a forward. The one the that did standout from the other about Jay's game was he could cross; on the run, standing still, even from the half way line Bryzski's crosses were beautiful and always in the right part of the box. Seeing the crosses but limited finishing ability and the fact he is right footed the coaches put Jay at RB and that's when things started to take off. Jay always had a decent speed to go along with his crossing, what he really had to work on was his defensive game Considering he wasn't quite an offensive RB unicorn like Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dani Alves or Sergino Dest he mainly focused all his training on staying with his man and learning to anticipate what position to be in and where is man is going to be. Over time he got very at playing defense, so much in fact that even the academies best wingers didn't want to go up against him in training or scrimmages. His reputation earned him a spot on the U-19 team at the age of just 16 and was started to be considered one of the better prospects in the country, at this point he even started to receive youth caps for Poland which made him and his mother very proud. Just as it seemed he was about to actually break into the first team there was a big brawl during a U-19 match and Bryzski was in the middle of it, punches were thrown and it got so bad that a few players from both teams ended up in the hospital. Jay was considered one of the instigators and was banned from Polish soccer for an undisclosed amount of time. Upset with the ruling Jay decided head to the SSL and show everyone back home what they missed out on

APPROVED
