AF Masques Sacres MD1 - PidgeyDestined - 2026-06-23 The AF Masques team finished their first matchday last week against Montreal United, finishing the game in a 2-2 draw. The final score doesn't really tell the story of the game though. The Masques really held control of the game for the most part and should have walked away from MD1 with a win and three points, but they at least got some points on the board for the season. The Masques out shot Montreal by 26 shots, the Masques finishing with 30 shots compared to Montreal's 4 shots, and finished with 12 more on target shots, 14 for the Masques and 2 for Montreal. Because of such a large shot disparity, the Masques for actually expected to finish with 3.91 goals compared to Montreal's 1.06. Although they should have won the game, it's very promising for this extremely young group to put up this type of performance in their first game together. Irepsej Imeinaktok took home Player of the Match honors with their performance, finishing the game with a goal, an assist, and an 8.3 rating. Sadie Black also had an assist in the game, finishing with a 7.6 rating and having 2 CCC's. New Left Defender Saphira Brightscales settled in pretty well, finishing with a 7.8 rating and having 4 CCC's during the game. Hopefully she can start turning those into better scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates. Nico Lam had the other goal for the Masques and also finished with a nice 7.5 rating for the game. The Masques had an issue with their temper during the game, and it showed in the form of 4 yellow cards, one for each of Sadie Black, Resetti Moretti, Nico Lam, and Scat Cat. This was probably the major reason behind allowing Montreal to stay in the game and force the draw. All-in-all a decent showing for this young team, and one they can be proud to build on going forwards! |
