Predicting Draft 27 - 5 Rounds of Prospects - Butters - 2026-07-09

On June 20th there was 29 players in the draft class of 27, and today on July 9th there are 43 players which means we could have the 1st pick in the 4th round now available.  With the draft still a long way out and the expansion of the league coming there looks to be room for more players.  My prediction was 50 players would be drafted based on past draft metrics, however with the new teams being added there is could be even more than 50.

Previous draft picks for 12 teams would have the following:
Round 1 - Picks 1-12
Round 2 - Picks 13-24
Round 3 - Picks 25-36
Round 4 - Picks 37-48

Picks with 14 teams would have the following:
Round 1 - Picks 1-14
Round 2 - Picks 15-28
Round 3 - Picks 29-42
Round 4 - Picks 43-56

In the previous draft there was 47 players selected with only 4 teams passing on players in round 4.  If there are to be 2 more teams picking than a 4th round pick this season could be almost as valuable as a 3rd round pick would have been last season.  Teams could be selecting all the way through the 4th round and might need a 5th.  I don't know if the SSL has ever had a 5th round selection but this might just be the year.
