The World Cup Playoffs (Part IV) - Bergmau - 2026-07-10 Welcome back to the fourth part of this series. Its been a few days, we are at well into the quarter finals at this point. France has successfully and convincingly I might say, advanced to the semi finals of yet another world cup. So far they look like the best and most complete team of the bunch. Lets take a short recap. In the round of 16, all the favorites prevailed. Brazil vs. Norway lacked a clear favorite in my opinion, with a slight advantage for Brazil. I have to admit it was very satisfiying to see both the US and Paraguay lose. Never thought as a German I would cheer for France but at last here we were. Although the favorites prevailed, many of them looked shaky at best. England was brought to their absolute limit by a relentless Mexico and Argentina saved themselves in the last quarter of the game. I expect the quarters to be close matches once again. Unfortunately for Switzerland, they have to deal with a few injuries to key players, I think Argentina is going to have an easier game at their hands compared to the round of 16. For the others matches, I believe them to be close once again. Lets see if Belgium is able to score against Spain or if they remain without a single goal against. But lets not forget about the vikings taking on england tomorrow for the sake of old times. I am looking forward to a banger of a game. Until next week and the semi finals, may the better team win. |
