Minors league (1 & 2) defensive/physical statistics - Jeanious - 2026-07-10

Hello everyone, here we are again, this time with the defensive/physical statistics for the Minors league 1 & 2 so far. I haven't re-created the defensive impact model yet for this either, but I will, one day, I swear.

Average rating

Although the rest of this article shifts the focus towards defensive metrics, we will start once again by looking at the average league rating. The leaderboard is incredibly close with less than a point separating first from tenth. Showing just how competitive some performances have been.

Silver Tarandus tops the standings with an 8.32 average rating narrowly staying ahead of Ozzy Trent Kovács on 8.28. With only 0.04 between the top two there is almost nothing to separate their performances in this season so far.
Jay Cue Jr. occupies third spot with 8.07 after that the table becomes even closer. Bob Berendsen (7.85), THRAXXii La’Mort (7.84), Eden Empire IV (7.83) and Arsène N'Goussou (7.82) are separated by just 0.03 rating points making this the closest graph/statistic we've had so far (I think?).

The final three places are equally competitive. Nico Lam records 7.78 followed by Scat Cat on 7.75 while Saba Kvekvetsia rounds out the top ten with 7.71.

The small margins throughout this statistic shows us how some players stay extremely consistent every match. With so many players grouped together even one exceptional performance or one bad performance can shoot you up the rankings or make you fall out the top ten.

Attempted tackles
The attempted tackles statistic highlights the league's most active (defensive) players who are consistently stepping into duels and trying to win posession back. We have a clear leader in this statistic followed by multiple closely ranked players.

Matt Stro leads the league with 36 attempted tackles giving him a healthy advantage over the rest of the players. His willingness to engage with tackles stands out with six more tackle attempts than his nearest challenger.
Those nearest challengers are Ross Bob and Sharko Demarco who share second place on 30. Just behind them Cameron Millwall and Berit Skovgaard sit on 29. Keeping themselves among the league's most active tacklers.

The leaderboard becomes as close as it can possible be in the final five places. Kim Heung-Min, Joe Mormor, Joshua Homme III Esquire Limited, Bodhi Griz and Ron Wince all record 28 attempted tackles. This creates a five way tie that shows just how competitive this category is beyond the leading positions.

It's worth noting that attempted tackles measures your attempts and involvement, not direct success or positive influence. A high total often shows us players who are tasked with disrupting attacks, making this an indicator of defensive workload and activity rather than tackling efficiency.

Tackles won
While attempted tackles highlight defensive activity, tackles won focus on tackling effiency. This statistic shows the players who aren't just attempting challenges but are coming away with the ball. Compared to attempted tackles the rankings see a noticeable different order of players. Rewarding efficiency and defensive involvement.

Matt Stro also leads this category, this time with 32 tackles won. Having also topped the attempted tackles statistic, he combines high defensive volume with success. Underlining his importance as the Minor league best ball winning.. tackler?
Three players share second place on 24 tackles won. Joe Mormor, Jay Cue Jr. and Ross Bob. While Ross Bob featured prominently in attempted tackles, Joe Mormor and Jay Cue Jr. climb into the upper ranking through their ability to consistently turn challenges into possession.

Just behind them are Thomas Schwarte, Vumion Stitcherson and Bodhi Grizz all recording 23 successful tackles. Cameron Millwall and Ryan O'Neill follow closely on 22 with Berit Skovgaard completing the top ten on 21.

Tackle %
The tackle success % statistic shows us that we have some perfect tacklers in our league that have never missed or failed a tackle. This means they either attempted one tackle and won it and never tried again or they're absolutely fantastic tacklers.

Sharing the first place with a flawless 100% tackle success rate are Emmanuel Ofusu, Duncan Walrusson, Nick Dusk, ROVA SUPERSUB, KRUNG THEP SUPERSUB, JG Wentworth, Jakob Fensterhausen, Eden Empire IV, Tito Esposito and Wang Zhihao.
With every player recording the same success rate, congratulations.

It's worth remembering that success % doesn't account for volume. Some players may have maintained their perfect record across a large number of defensive actions, while others have reached 100% from fewer attempts. Obviously the more tackles you attempt the lower your succes % will become.

Key tackles
Key tackles represent tackles that stop dangerous attacks at critical (defensive) moments making them one of the most impactful tackling and even allround defensive statistics. Unlike the general tackling numbers this statistic highlights the players whose challenge(s) have had a direct influence on preventing clear cut chances. We also get a clear standout performer in this statistic.

Szarekh King comfortably leads the category with 8 key tackles putting together solid defensive effort this season so far. His total is three clear of the next closest players making him the league's most crucial tackler.
A three way tie for second follows with Eric Duic(apparently not a GK anymore), Jean Girard and Justin Fern all recording 5 key tackles. Still a very solid effort for the games that have been played so far.

The remainder of this statistic is closely grouped. John McDougal, Jay Cue Jr., Damian DeSoto, João Mendes, Resetti Moretti and Nick Dusk all finish on 4 key tackles. Creating a six way tie that demonstrates just how small the margins are in this category.

Interceptions
Interceptions are often a combation of anticipation and positioning. The players at the top of this statistic read the game well, cutting out the passes before attacks have the chance to develop, or maybe they get hit by the ball on accident. While we again have a clear leader, the remainder of the top ten is closely contested with several players separated by only a handful of interceptions.

Damian DeSoto leads the league with 25 interceptions establishing himself as the competition's most effective interceptor(is that a word?) of the league. His ability to step into passing lanes has given him the advantage needed to pull ahead of the rest in the league.

Bob Berendsen follows with 23 interceptions while STAR SCREAM, Sadie Black and Bodhi Grizz all share third place on 21.
Just behind them are Jay Cue Jr. and Van Jertonghen both on 20. After them Joe Mormor claims eighth with 19. Scorp E. Unshark and Pardner Magool round out the top ten on 18 interceptions each.

Clearances
The clearances statistic is occupied by players who spend much of their time defending their own penalty area. Unlike interceptions which rely on anticipation and positioning, clearances are often the final line of resistance. Removing immediate danger and relieving pressure on the field, the pressure is transfered to the spectators that need to dodge those missiles coming their way. The distribution features a clear leader before settling into a competitive race for the remaining rankings.

Martin Krpan tops the standings with 31 clearances making him the league's most active player when it comes to disposing of the ball in any way necessary. His advantage of three over the next closest player gives him a comfortable lead in this statistic.

Eric Duic follows with 28 while Jean Girard, Le Chonk and Nick Kasak all share third place on 23. This three way tie highlights how evenly matched the chasing group has been throughout this season so far.
Szarekh King sits sixth with 22 clearances narrowly ahead of STAR SCREAM on 21. The table then closes in further with Scott MacLeod recording 20 before Josh Harper and Justin Fern complete the top ten with 18 clearances.

An interesting pattern emerges when comparing this statistic to the key tackles statistic. Both Eric Duic and Jean Girard appear near the top in each category proving they're not only effective at stopping attacks before they develop with a tackle, but are also heavily relied upon to deal with danger inside or close to their own defensive third.

Mistakes leading to goals
While most defensive statistics celebrate positive contributions, this statistic highlights the other side of the game. Errors leading directly to goals are relatively rare but you don't want to hit on this kind of rarity. The distribution is therefore very close with only one error separating the top five from the reminder of the top ten

Five players share the unwanted distinction of leading this category with 2 mistakes leading to goals. Bad Wolf, Angry Lizard, João Mendes, Moew enBach and Joshua Homme III Esquire Limited. While these moments inevitably attract attention and earn you a spot in a lowlight reel, they should also be viewed in the context of players who were involved in high pressure situations (hopefully) where a single lapse of judgement had an immediate consequence.

The rest of the top ten consists of players with 1 mistake leading to a goal. Ekon Ayo, Rokuv Gibraltar, Mecha Zilla, Ron Wince and Resetti Moretti all feature after suffering a single costly error.

Sorry, I had to do it to them.

Blocks
Blocks require players to put themselves in the path of shots and crosses to deny the opposition an opportunity. This statistic reflects that commitment with three players sharing top spot before a tightly packed group follows just behind.

STAR SCREAM, Scott MacLeod and Marco Tentacles(unfair when you have 8 "limbs") jointly lead the league with 10 blocks each. Their willingness to throw themselves in front of the ball and opponent has made them standout performers in this category with all three setting the benchmark for bodily sacrifice.

Just behind the leaders is Ekon Ayo on 9 blocks remaining within touching distance of the leaders.
The remainder of the leaderboard are on equal level. Eric Duic, Le Chonk, Joe Mormor, Jimothy Erickson, Owen Bryant and Martin Krpan all record 7 blocks creating a six way tie that fills out the top ten.

An easier way to visually see who leads this statistic is check who has the most bruises and most likely a black eye (or two).

Shots blocked
Blocking a shot is often the last line of defence before the goalkeeper thinks "Ah frick(Mee6 traumatized me), here we go again". It requires excellent positioning, anticipation and a willingness to put the body on the line, or just a comically large face. This statistic is led by one standout performer while the rest of the top ten is tightly grouped with only small margins separating each ranking.

Scott MacLeod tops the rankings with 8 shots blocked making him the league's most effective player at last ditch efforts denying efforts on goal. His total puts him one clear of the nearest challengers and reinforces his strong showing in yet another block category.

Sharing second place with 7 shots blocked are Eric Duic and Martin Krpan. Both continued to feature prominently across multiple defensive metrics. Their ability to consistently get in the way of goal bound efforts must be a major asset to their teams.
Mecha Zilla and Austin Morley occupy the next tier on 6 before the table closes in once again. Le Chonk, Damian DeSoto, Dr Squid, Cameron Millwall and STAR SCREAM all finish on 5 shots blocked. This means half of the top ten is separated by nothing at all.

Looking across the defensive statistics, a number of familiar names continue to emerge. Players such as Scott MacLeod, Eric Duic, Martin Krpan and STAR SCREAM repeatedly appear near the top of different categories.

Press %
Press success % measures how effectively players win the ball or disrupt possession when applying pressure. Rather than rewarding sheer pressing volume this statistic highlights efficiency. Showcasing those who turn defensive pressure into positive outcomes, atleast more often than not. This statistic features two players tied at the top before gradually descending through increasingly competitive percentages.

ROVA SUPERSUB and Ignignokt share first place with an 66.7% press success rate meaning roughly two out of every three pressing actions they attempt result in a successful outcome. That level of efficiency sets a high benchmark for the rest of the league, and currently nobody is able to get close to their succes.

Rokuv Gibraltar follows on 62.5% making him the only other player to break the 60% mark. The next tier includes Van Jertonghen (52.4%) and Louie Duck (52.0%) both maintaining success rates above the halfway point, which is still impressive.
Howie Dewitt records an even 50.0% while Mecha Zilla (47.1%), Bérangère-Amandine Bruère-Estrangin (46.7%) and Kaz Okada (46.2%) continue the gradual decline through the upper half.

Le Chonk rounds out the top ten with a 43.5% success rate.

Attempted headers
The attempted headers leaderboard highlights the players most frequently involved in physical aerial duels. This can mean they're defending set pieces, challenging for long balls or competing for possession in the air. Unlike many defensive statistics this category has a clear leader with a significant gap before the rest of the league joins the party.

Mikko Rashford II leads the league with 116 attempted headers establishing himself as the most active aerial presence by a LARGE margin. His total is 18 higher than the next closest player. This guy is jumping more than a dolphin at Sea World.

Jakob Fensterhausen follows with 98 while Greg Evil occupies third place on 84. Nick Dusk sits just behind with 83, creating a close battle between third and fourth.
The middle of the leaderboard remains competitive with Scott MacLeod recording 78 attempted headers and Bad Wolf on 77. Matt Stro (76) and Luke Walker (74) continue the steady decline in attempts.

The final two positions are held by Ryan O'Neill with 64 and Blaise N'Kufo with 63.

Succesful headers
Successful headers highlight the players who are not only frequently involved in aerial battles but are also able to come out on top, which in the end is more important that trying. While attempted headers show involvement this statistic rewards aerial dominance and the ability to turn those duels into positive outcomes and leaving your opponent on the ground, scared. The top of the table is controlled by a familiar name with several strong aerial performers following behind.

Mikko Rashford II leads the category with 79 successful headers, how could he not after being involved with 129 aerial duels. His combination of volume and actually winning them makes him the standout aerial presence winning more headers than any other player in the league, even though second place is not too far off this time.

Jakob Fensterhausen follows with 72 maintaining a clear position as one of the league's strongest aerial competitors. Nick Dusk sits third with 67 and further strengthening the presence of physically dominant players near the top of the rankings.
A tie follows for fourth place with Matt Stro and Scott MacLeod both recording 58 successful headers. Both players have demonstrated a strong aerial presence remaining well ahead of the rest of the chasing group.

Bad Wolf ranks sixth with 51 followed by Resetti Moretti on 50 and Greg Evil on 49.
The final two spots are occupied by Sadie Black and Scat Cat both finishing on 42 successful headers.

Headers %
Header success % shifts the focus away from volume and towards REAL efficiency (or just a low amount of attempts so far). This highlights the players who consistently win aerial duels when they are involved. Unlike attempted and successful headers this statistic should be rewarding precision rather than frequency, creating a very different ranking of aerial performers.

LONDON SUPERSUB(oops still haven't removed bot players) leads the category with a perfect 100% header success rate winning every aerial duel attempted. While volume remains an important factor in evaluating aerial dominance, maintaining a flawless record is always cool.

Sadie Black follows with a 91.3% success rate placing her/him comfortably ahead of the rest of the field, and is really our real number one. Resetti Moretti ranks third on 87.7% while Bob Berendsen completes the players above the 85% mark with 85.7%.
The next group remains highly competitive. Jonathon Jameston records 81.8% followed by Aren fjord on 81.0%. Nick Dusk who also featured in successful headers continues his strong aerial performances with an 80.7% success rate.

The final positions are separated by very small margins. Louie Duck records 80.6%, Matt Oopsie Wrongsport Turk sits on 80.0% and Oscar Acton rounds out the top ten with 77.8%.

This leaderboard provides an interesting contrast to the successful headers statistic. Some of the league's most frequent aerial competitors are replaced by players who may have fewer opportunities but convert those chances at an high(er) rate.

Key headers
Key headers is going to show us the players who have made the most important aerial contributions, focusing on moments where winning a header has a significant impact on defensive situations or the outcome of an attack. While successful headers measure overall aerial ability this statistic identifies those who won their duel under high pressure to maybe score a goal or prevent one.

Mikko Rashford II leads the category with 27 key headers, creating a significant gap between himself and the rest of this statistic, because ofcourse he also has an insane amount of key headers. His dominance across attempted and successful headers continues here claiming his status as the league's most influential aerial competitor so far this season.

Jakob Fensterhausen follows with 16 key headers while Justin Fern sits just behind on 15. Both remain the closest challengers for the top spot although the gap to the leader shows just how frequently Mikko Rashford II has been involved in crucial aerial moments.
A second group begins with Dr Squid and Scott MacLeod who share fourth place on 13. Dennis van Huntelrooy records 11, but he really places first in all of our hearts.

The final four positions are separated by small margins. Mecha Zilla and Greg Evil both finish on 10 followed by Nick Dusk on 9 and Ekon Ayo completing the top ten with 8 key headers.

Can we all collectively agree to take out Mikko's kneecaps so he'll never jump again?

RE: Minors league (1 & 2) defensive/physical statistics - nckkss - 2026-07-10

Love these posts.

I will only love them more when Nick Kasak is top of all the stats.
