The Next Generation - JCPro - 2026-07-12 After a few slow weeks from Josh Harper, his coaches suggested he practice with one of the academy teams and asked him to share tips and drills to help them reach the next level. Little did he know he would also relight his fire to help his own game. The first tip that he would give them is to watch the field as a whole and try to anticipate what the opposing team will do. The day before, he thought of some practice drills on how to work on this. He came up with one-on-one drills and watching the opponent's body movement to anticipate what they will do, by watching their hips, making it easier to know which direction they are going. Seeing how well the players took to his words and training, it made him think back to his times when he was in the same position they are in. These flashbacks to the past and getting to work with the next generation of players and seeing their hard work and determination made him find joy in the game again, while also helping the upcoming players who might even become some of his teammates in the future. After the week-long training with the academy team, he went back into his next match with a certain fire lit under him and played amazingly. |
