Leo Stone and Cairo move back up to 3rd in Div2 Minors - PT - Frostbite - 2026-07-19
Leonardo Stone and Cairo City are making a name for themselves as the race for promotion continues to heat up. Cairo was sitting in fourth place of the Division 2 of the minor league, however after beating second place Montreal United 2-0, the potential from this team is limitless and they move to third in the division, 3 points back of second. After suffering a difficult 4-1 loss the game prior, many thought that Cairo may just keel over and look towards the next season as they have done in the past, but this is a new Cairo, and now they persevered and showed the league what they can do when playing closer to full strength. Standout rookie goalie Upanqui continues to put in great performance after great performance, once again posting a clean sheet in this one allowing 0 goals, as Montreal shot 15 shots with 5 on target and Upanqui helped stop them all. Ufusu was also critical, as their shot attempt forced an own goal and put the game out of reach at the end. But of course, this is a blog for Leo Stone, and today he showed us why Cairo believes so strongly in him. Leo wasted no time, scoring a goal in just the 4th minute of the game. He then proceeded to get a yellow 10 minutes later but his job was complete. Leo scores his first goal in a while, now making it 3 on the year, as well as a 7.6 match rating. It has been an up and down rookie season for Leo thus far this season, but things continue to look up for Leo and this young Cairo team as Leo continues to make all the right decisions.
