With the World Cup ending almost a week ago , quite crazy how fast that tournament went by. With Argentina just getting by in the knockout rounds going down early in almost every game. Coming back showing strong efforts with controlling the pace and the ball. My feeling going into the World Cup final against Spain was Argentina cannot sit back. Spain on the other hand even tho having close games in the knockout round they had almost complete control and domination in almost every game they played except the france game. I also did pick spain to win the world Cup did a thing a work with co workers. Even though the world cup final was only 1-0 in Spain favor, they completely dominated Argentina ever inch of pitch. Spain hardly gives up any chances plays great defense and even better balll control. Some insane stats in the World Cup. until the 90th Minute Argentina had 0 shots or even attempts at the net, First time this happened since Comprehensive records in 1966. Spain had a total of 20 shots and 11 shots on Target with some crazy chances , in the end Argentina finally had 3 shots by the end of extra time. Spain again as you can tell by tell by now dominated another stat spain had 68% Possession time and legit made Argentina look like an amatuer team how well spain controlled the ball. Another thing Spain completed 803 Passes with a 90% Accuracy compared to Argentina 445 passes with a 78% pass rating. With all that information being said after Spain had such crazy pressure the whole game and chances after chances. Fernandez took a crazy chance and fouling and knocking the player over, resulting a very bad timed Red Card. It was only a matter of time before spain scored and which they did in the 106th Minute. This whole game to me a new fan of football , it almost seemed like Argentina was only playing to get to Penalty Kicks. They had no pressure no real threats throughout the whole game, super passive and parked the bus. Overall as a world cup final it was very disappointing to see that type of game, i understand that Spain is very strong kinda puts a sour taste in your mouth on how Argentina played in the Final. With this tournament it showly proves that best team won in spain and overall didn't seem like it was close when spain got their grove.
