Grading Org Branding Pt. 1 - Hacob - 2026-08-02

Need to make some money to afford equipment and I did not really have any idea what to write about, so figured I would go to the good old branding review and hopefully come up with something more interesting down the line haha. Having two teams associated with orgs will certainly be a wrinkle that will make this interesting though, and I also come from basically zero soccer background so the lack of location and team names is not a familiar concept to me so we will see how this goes! I am going to grade each team based on their major and minor teams logo (10 pts), team colors (10 points), club name (5 points) and location (5 points). Apologies in advance if I go a bit hard on your brand haha.

Liffeyside Celtic FC / CS Rova Mpanjaka

Majors Logo: 3/10

The Liffeyside logo just seems a little basic to me. The Celtic pattern (pretty sure there is an actual name for this but I am not remembering it) definitely fits the vibe but on a glance through the other logos I feel like this one will finish a bit lower on my list.

Majors Colors: 3/10

Again, the green is a bit muted and the only other colors present are black and white. It seems there may be another club with a similar color scheme but one that looks a bit more vibrant to me.

Majors Club Name: 3/5

I thought the name was solid. It does not stand out much from the rest of the majors clubs, but it also holds its own against most of them.

Majors Location: 2/5

Dublin was a fine place that I think was a decent choice for a team location, but again comparing to other teams it seems like they have locations that I will think more favorably of.

Minors Logo: 6/10

I definitely like the logo for Rova. The tree is super cool and fits the vibe of the team very well, and the crown on top is a nice touch. I also like the tree interrupting the red line through the middle.

Minors Colors: 5/10

I think the colors are solid but not really anything special. Can definitely make some clean kits but when doing graphics I think some other clubs will have flashier colors.

Minors Club Name: 5/5

I believe the club name translates to Royal Palace or something of the like, which is a super cool meaning and the actual name is great as well. One of my favorite club names in the minors.

Minors Location: 4/5

It is in the capital of Madagascar which is to be expected, but I think that is definitely a cool location for a team.

Total: 31/60

---------------------

Hollywood FC / F.C. Kaapstad

Majors Logo: 10/10

The Hollywood FC logo is just so clean to me. Spelling out the team location of Hollywood with the actual sign is not something I noticed at first but a super super cool touch. The general framing of it as well just reminds me of a a piece of film from a movie strip which fits the location well of course.

Majors Colors: 8/10

The color scheme for Hollywood is also great. I would have given it a 10/10 probably, but what kept me from ranking it that high was that it kinda is the same as the LA Galaxy colors if I recall correctly and it is not a super unique color scheme.

Majors Club Name: 3/5

The name is pretty basic, but I like the use of Hollywood as the clubs name rather than something else related to the location.

Majors Location: 1/5

Los Angeles is a pretty basic place to put a sim league team so its not going to get any points from me here haha.

Minors Logo: 5/10

I think the Kaapstad logo is solid, but it is a bit small or hard to read for me as well as a bit simplistic overall so I am going to give it an average score.

Minors Colors: 5/10

Again I think the colors are solid, and having a few very light accent colors will help make things a bit more interesting, but overall green and yellow is not the flashiest thing to me.

Minors Club Name: 3/5

I was somewhat on the line between a 3 and a 4 here as I think that the club name is pretty average for me but it probably ranks in the upper half of the minors teams for me, but ultimately I wanted to keep 4 open for a few other teams.

Minors Location: 3/5

South Africa is a fine location, and putting it in the capital makes sense, so I am going to give it an average score.

Total: 38/60

---------------------

União São Paulo / AS Paris

Majors Logo: 8/10

The colors on the Sao Paulo logo are super sharp and the white bridge symbol in the middle is super clean. The font choice really fits it as well and the SP emblem is a nice finishing touch.

Majors Colors: 8/10

The colors are certainly very basic, but I do love the red, white, and black color scheme so I am still giving it a strong score. The balance is somewhat unique as well as sometimes teams will neglect one of the three but they lean into all three equally as hard.

Majors Club Name: 4/5

I think the name is pretty smooth and is a very good pick for an international name. Definitely my favorite of the three so far.

Majors Location: 3/5

Brazil is a pretty obvious spot for a soccer team, however I definitely am a fan of that they went with Sao Paolo instead of Rio de Janeiro.

Minors Logo: 5/10

The logo did not really scream Paris to me and the colors were not super contrasting so it was just a bit muddy and off for me. I did like the geometricness of it and that it was not just a boring shape though so I bumped it up to a 5.

Minors Colors: 6/10

The colors are fine to me as well, but similar to Hollywood FC the colors remind me of PSG so I am taking off a few points for that as the are not super unique in that regard.

Minors Club Name: 2/5

The club name is a bit basic, but it definitely is not bad. I just felt that for the most part the rest of the names in the minors were ones that I preferred.

Minors Location: 2/5

Paris is again just a bit basic of a location but I do think it makes sense to have a team there and there are worse locations so I will at least give it a 2.

Total: 38/60

---------------------

Reykjavik United / North Shore United

Majors Logo: 6/10

The logo shape is a bit basic being circular, however I really like the touches of the font and the gradient in the circle in the middle. Its not super flashy but it is clean.

Majors Colors: 7/10

I like the colors but like the logo it is pretty simple. It is certainly not bad though and the gradient of green opens up some options, but it is not unique enough for me to give it higher scores.

Majors Club Name: 5/5

I feel like the name is really smooth and flows well, and I cannot say that there is a team that I clearly like the name of more so I am giving it a 5.

Majors Location: 5/5

Again, I really like this location. Iceland is a great spot to put a team and Reykjavik is a cool sounding location and name to be able to give to the club.

Minors Logo: 1/10

Unfortunately, I think this is my least favorite logo in the SSL by a good margin. I understand the idea of trying to use fishing hooks to make an S, but it just does not really fit in with the rest of the brands and is just a bit bland.

Minors Colors: 1/10

There might be more colors here that I am missing, but the only ones in the logo are black, white, and brown. With those I have to give them the lowest score of the colors in the SSL.

Minors Club Name: 2/5

North Shore United is a fine name but I think overall the minors have some pretty good names and it falls on the lower end pretty easily for me.

Minors Location: 3/5

I like Auckland as a location and putting a team in Oceania and choosing to do so in New Zealand as a great choice over somewhere in Australia. It is not a super flashy location but definitely a good one.

Total: 30/60

CD Tenochtitlan / Krung Thep FC

Majors Logo: 7/10

The logo shape is pretty basic, however I love how a lot of symbology from Mexico and the Aztecs is used in the logo. You can definitely tell where the team is from off of the logo which is super cool.

Majors Colors: 4/10

I like that the colors fit the location and theme of the team, however they are pretty muted and there is not a lot of contrast between them so things look a bit muddled to me.

Majors Club Name: 4/5

I think the name is super smooth and flows well. Probably one of my favorite names location name wise.

Majors Location: 5/5

I assume that while the city is Mexico City, it is supposed to be from the ancient city Tenochtitlan. If that assumption is true, I think that it is a super cool idea for a place to put a team and definitely is a great place to build a vibe out of for the team.

Minors Logo: 7/10

The logo has a unique shape but I was somewhat conflicted. Overall I think the shape and such of it is clean, but the soccer ball used reminds me more of a volleyball and it was kinda difficult to make out that it was a halo, but overall I like the shape and symbols on the logo. Gave a bonus point as well as I learned that the name for the city the team is in means city of angels so the halo is a great touch.

Minors Colors: 4/10

I like the idea of a grey, maroon, and gold combo but the ones that were used but they are a bit muddled and not super clear to make out. I think it could have benefited from some more contrasting colors.

Minors Club Name: 4/5

I kinda struggled to grade the club name, however I like it and it is super unique so I am going to give it a strong score.

Minors Location: 4/5

I love the idea to put a team in Southeast Asia and Bangkok, Thailand is a great place to put a team in the region.
