Safety. Sandro felt strange to be coming off his worst season in his pro career, yet feeling the overwhelming sensation of relief. Not only would his team, CDT, be staying up in the top division for another season, but his team’s management had also informed him that he’d been protected from an expansion draft and unless some crazy trade offer comes in, he’d be back in Ciudad de Mexico next season.
Expansion comes with interesting choices, and Sandro was obviously happy with the sign of faith the club has shown him after a season where there wasn’t much end product coming from Sandro. He wondered when the list would be coming out, and which of his teammates would be shipped off to new locales. The organization is stacked and there’s been a bit of a log jam in terms of getting to the majors level that Sandro never had to deal with himself. He wondered who from CDT would be seen as expendable as they have prospects ready for first team football behind them, and which young players trapped beneath key players at the majors level would be let go of in order to progress in their respective careers.
He had some names in mind, but he didn’t want to verbalize those names in case he’d bring bad luck to his organization, so he pushed them out of his mind.
Above all, Sandro needed relaxation. His life has been football, football, football, every day for years now, and he just needed to get his mind right. Enjoy himself with his friends in Mexico and family in Brazil before next season. He could do with a bit of time to himself.
