Graduating the Academy - siddhus - 2026-08-10
It's a bittersweet feeling as Daan Wouters played his final match with Stockholm. While there is the looming academy all star game where he was announced to have gotten a starting spot and will get to reunite with a lot of his teammates again, it had meant a lot to him to play for Stockholm. And while he's excited for the upcoming draft, where he is currently projected to go twelveth overall to the newly announced ASC Yumboes de Dakar at the end of the first round, he was just getting started with Stockholm.
After going most of the season not picking up any goal contributions and just generally having negative match ratings and contributions on the team, the training and development he had finally paid off as in the last two games he had really erupted and found his way. In each of the last two games, he ended with a brace with matchday 14 also having him pick up an additional assist which led to the subsequent player of the game despite them losing. This wasn't even against an easy opponent as it was against Jakarta who ended up clinching the academy title that game.
Hopefully he can continue his strong run of form into the minors season where his performances will matter a lot more. There are still a lot of uncertainties for his next season though. While he will likely suit up for the newly announced minor team CD Alfama, the position that he will actually play is still up for debate. But his versatility is one of the reasons why he is such a key cornerstone for a team looking to build from scratch. However, Wouters definitely has the goal scoring itch now and no matter where he ends up on the pitch, he will definitely look forward to making an impact on the scoresheet whether its assisting the teammate, scoring the actual goal, or even just making sure the other team can't affect the score.
To end the season, Wouters finishes with seven goal contributions (4 goals and 3 assists), and finished top 10 in a few categories including shots on target, fouls against, and offsides, so nothing really crazy to look at. Definitely will be following his career closely!
