S27 Mock Draft + Expansion Draft Analysis - Sizz - 2026-08-11 Salutations there Simulation Soccer League readers. My name is Sizz and this here will be my first ever mock draft with a little bit of expansion draft evaluation and analysis so bear with me. There will definitely be mistakes, there will be bad jokes, there will be incorrect assumptions, there will be amateur hour guesses... but there will be cake at the end so stick around. So now that the expansion draft is finished up and posted, let's take a look at what the two newest organizations in this league have to work with. ASC Yumboes de Dakar came out of the expansion draft with the following: Sharko Demarco - CD - S25 - 741 TPE Pardner Magool - LD - S23 - 989 TPE Mullet Man - LAM - S26 - 568 TPE Monkey Buccaneer - CDM - S23 - 971 TPE Nerve De Groot - ST - S17 - 1214 TPE Scott MacLeod - CD - S23 - 950 TPE Slabko Plackovic - CDM - S26 - 529 TPE Kori Mizukana - CDM - S21 - 1173 TPE Brick Wall Jr. - GK - S13 - 427 TPE Pete Martell - CAM - S14 - 997 TPE S27 USP 1st + S27 TOK 3rd S28 SHA 1st + S27 SHA 2nd So all in all, we've got three defenders, 5 midfielders, a striker and a keeper along with three picks in the upcoming S27 draft and a first in next season's draft. Everyone knows the classic 3-5-1 formation is the new meta. Ittihad Riadi Casablanca gained the following players and assets in the expansion draft: Takeda Takahashi - LM - S20 - 1551 TPE Alessandro Del Pirlo - CAM - S13 - 589 TPE Denis Mobek - GK - S20 - 1179 TPE Jonathan Jameston - CDM - S24 - 907 TPE Curtis Yeager - CDM - S25 - 646 TPE Peter Apostle - CDM - S21 - 1038 TPE Henry Andrews Jr - LD - S22 - 957 TPE Angry Lizard - LWB - S17 - 935 TPE Ali Dia - CM - S15 - 1385 TPE S28 TOK 1st + S27 CAT 2nd S27 SHA 1st + S27 CDT 3rd S27 HOL 1st + S27 HOL 3rd So in total IRC landed two left side defenders, 6 midfielders, a keeper and 6 picks in total including 2 firsts in this draft. I don't know if a 2-6-0 is the new meta but we'll find out. Now for the upcoming Season 27 draft. Quite a few of the established organizations have given picks away in order to keep players they weren't willing to part with. I'll also make a note of the orgs losses in their respective pick posts. With the first pick in the Season 27 Prospect Draft.... 1: ASC Yumboes de Dakar As we stated earlier, Dakar has 3 defenders, 5 midfielders, a striker and a keeper to work with presently. Since we know siddhus and his player Daan Wouters will be on the team after this draft, that puts Dakar at 6 midfielders. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and have Dakar shore up their back line with another back in Captain Metalbeard. Coming from the ISFL myself, Tuba is a known entity there and I know Sidd has ties to the ISFL as well. This allows Dakar to move Sharko to the right side, leave Tuba at left and keep two other central defenders to give them a solid 4 man backline. An equally legitimate pick here would be Pelochyta's player, Paulie Wag who is also a known entity in the ISFL. You could make the argument that Paulie Wag would be the better pick here due to the bank account which is roughly 3x that of Captain Metalbeard's. 2: Xelajú Cósmico FC The Cósmico recently lost a GK and a CAM in the expansion draft and traded a LD to IRC. With only one keeper within the org for both squads, stankpicklez' keeper, Slim Towered is looking a little too enticing for the Cósmico here and they decide to get another young keeper to go along with Lencho Ash who they took in the S26 draft. Everyone needs a towering keeper to mind the net for them. 3 + 4: Rejkavik United The Icelandic org lost a couple aging players in Alessandro Del Pirlo (CAM) and Brick Wall Jr. (GK) in the expansion draft. With 4 picks in this draft and two back to back here in picks 3 and 4, they're looking to replace their losses and look to the future. Rejkavic decide to go with Thomas Thunder and Paulie Wag. This gives them a solid replacement for Del Pirlo albeit with big shoes to fill. It also gives them another solid option along their back line to work with. They're thinking that an org can never have too many good defenders. I always thought that vikings were more about attacking than defending but here we are. Welcome to 2026. 5: Schwarzwälder FV The Black Forest based org lost some defensive help in a LD and CDM in the expansion draft. They decide to take a shot on an unknown entity here in the SSL and pick Max Velox. He'll need to switch over to the left side with a reroll but they liked what they saw in him during his academy campaign. Personally, this writer sees this as a massive reach but it is what it is. Seriously though, I was thinking about not even adding myself to this mock draft as I feel like it seems a bit arrogant to assume I'll go in the first round. With that said though, absolute reach here with Velox. 6: CA Buenos Aires The Argentinian org lost two young midfielders to the expansion orgs so they're looking to recoup their losses in the S27 prospect draft. They had their eyes on Thomas Thunder but he was yoinked from them a few picks earlier but they're more than thrilled to snag Butters Stotch with the 6th overall pick. With a name like that though, this pick couldn't be more sweet for Buenos Aires. 7: CF Catalunya Having given up picks and a defender to the new orgs in the expansion draft, Catalunya decides to take the best player available at their pick and sends the pick in for Scott Newman. They're absolutely thrilled to get a top player here with a solid bank account. They needed to a new man in the midfield and Newman fits the bill. Newman! 8: AC Romana Romana lost two defenders to the expansion draft. While they don't want to draft for needs, they see Wolf Hawkins there at almost 400 tpe and decide to pull the trigger. This gives them a young defender to put on their minor squad, Inter London and let him grow into a pivotal role as the seasons progress. They hope he can be a wolf among sheep in the minors while growing into a absolute terror in the fen-rear of their formation. I'm sorry for that. 9: Ittihad Riadi Casablanca As we mentioned earlier, IRC currently has rostered two left defenders, 6 midfielders and a keeper. We do know however, that they will be adding a striker and a left wingback due to managers' players. Another defender here would be a solid choice in their minds so they go with Meisho Doto and are confident in their back line moving forward. They're hoping another solid young keeper can fall to them later in the draft that they can forge into a major calibre player. How good can he be? Well he meisho you himself. 10: Rejkavik United Having filled some needs and wants for themselves with picks 3 and 4, Rejkavik decides to double down on their lust for attacking midfielders and go with Tex Star. This is an easy choice at this point and they can't believe Tex fell to ten for them to be able to scoop up. And let's be honest, you can't pass on a player with the name Tex. 11: Liffeyside FC Having lost two midfielders to the expansion draft, the Dublin based org wants to get some middies back in their org. Seeing Yoshisaur Munchakoopa sitting there isn't at all what they expected from this draft but it's an easy choice. They're just hoping he can score goals like the crushes turts in Mario. 12: ASC Yumboes de Dakar Back on the clock with the 12th pick is Dakar and they're just looking to take the best player available at this point in the draft. They've got a lot of needs. Cal McRae is looking like an easy choice here. While they do have a lot of midfielders, midfielders are the bread and butter of any org and Cal is a real buttery choice here. 13: Rejkavik United Back on the clock for pick number 4 in this draft is the Icelandic org. With a name like Bonnibel Bubblegum, Rejkavik can't say no. While they have a solid number of top strikers in the org, they're all about the same age and they need some fresh meat unchewed bubblegum for the grinder. 14: Ittihad Riadi Casablanca With the last pick in the first round, IRC are doing as their expansion counterparts are doing and taking the best player they can find on the board rather than trying to fill needs. For them though it just so happens to actually fill a need considering they only have one rostered keeper and the Japanese sensation is exactly what they're looking for. Kazeno Kagenori is selected at 14 overall in the S27 Prospect Draft. That concludes the first round of the prospect draft. It's possible, no likely, that I've made some serious oversights here. One of the main oversights I made was that I promised cake and I realized during writing that I forgot to call the bakery and order it. So uh.... I'll leave you with this cake instead.
