GRADED: Scott Newman draft day - DarkViper2 - 2026-08-17
Scott Newman was in high spirits entering the draft. He figured he played well enough with Port Royal FC to warrant being a 1st round pick, even though he didn't have the best game in his All-Star appearance. Newman was invited to wait in the green room as there was confidence that one of the organizations was going to take in the first round. He was joined by his parents and agent, even the PRFC manager was there for support. Pelochyta had Scott mocked as a top 4 pick going to Reykjavik, his agent warned him this might not be the case in the actual draft and said "most experts had you going in the mid 1st round and some had you slipping to the late 1st round. Don't get dejected if that happens"
The draft got underway with ASC picking first and they chose Scott's teammate Max Velox. Newman was happy for him and offered him congratulations and Max walked out of the green room on to the stage to receive his jersey. Scott wasn't upset that he wasn't the 1 OA pick as that was never his goal
XLC was the next team to go was XLC and they also went the defender route taking Captain MetalBeard from Stockholm IK. This time Newman gave more of a golf clap as MetalBeard got up to walk to the stage. His spirits remained high as he still waited for his name to be called
RKV had the next 2 picks and went with Paulie Wag 3 OA and quickly followed that up with Thomas Thunder, another teammate. Scott gave both players a rousing round of applause and thought to himself why the top 3 picks were all defenders with a LAM going 4th. Still he patiently waited for his name to be called, although he was starting to get a bit flustered
IR Casablanca made a trade to move up to 5th and selected Slim Towered from PS Jakarta. Scott didn't offer any sort of congratulation towards SLim as Newman still had some burning hatred towards Jakarta for winning the Academy title. By now He is really getting flustered that his name hasn't been called and could pop off at any point
CABA took Sirxo Masters with the 6th pick and Scott is really starting to get riled up inside because 4 out of the top 6 picks have been defenders and only on attacking midfielder has been selected to this point. While Newman is getting flustered on the inside he's done a good job showing restraint in front of everyone. If one more defender get taken he might lose it
CAT took Tyson Blaze with the 7th pick and Scoot held his composure because it was a RM that was selected and not a defender. He knows that the draft is approaching the area he was projected to go
With the 8th pick ACR took Meisho Doto and that was the 5th defender to go in the first round. At this point you could see the anger on Scott's face and he suddenly stood up and was about to yell "what the f*ck, man." But he held it in as now everyone was looking at him, even Doto had to look back to see what was happening before she walked out to the stage. Scott quickly apologized saying he was getting a little sick of seeing all of the defenders being taken over offensive minded players
RKV traded up to 9th and selected Butters Stotch from SIK. Newman was relieved that finally an offensive player was taken, even though this was only the 2nd midfielder to be taken at this point. His agent told him he might be taken within the next 3 picks if the experts were right. RKV also had the 10th pick and used it to select the 2nd goalkeeper of the draft, Swiss Cheese. Scott isn't that surprised to see GK not being selected that much
Around the time RYV made their pick, Newman's phone buzzed; it was Bailey making the call. Scott answered the phone and Bailey informed him that LIF was taking hime with the 11th pick in the draft. A round this time the commission read the draft card and said "with the 11th pick in the s27 SSL draft. Leffyside Celtic select Scott Newman, CAM Port Royal FC." Newman's parents gave him a bear hug and his agent said "congratulation man, you deserve it. Go get that jersey." Scott walked throught he tunnel like the picks before him, hugged the commissioner, and received his jersey. He was interviewed and was asked what this moment is like. He said it was surreal and he tanked his parents for the support and sacrifices they made so he can continue his career. Now he has to report to Rova in the coming days to begin training for the upcoming season. He has a lot of work to do in order to catch up to the veterans in the organization
I'm excited to start my career with an newish team in Celtic/Rova. Last season Rova managed to secure a promotion to minors D1 and I'm ready to help them win the minors title. Hopefully the sim doesn't screw us and cause of the have to play in a playoff for the promotion/relegation or worse has us finish in a spot where we are auto relegated. My main goal is just to have a solid season so I have something to build on for future seasons. The future looks bright for Celtic/Rova with me and my PRFC teammate Ahmad Ampharos here. Also I want to wish all rookies good luck in their first season with their respective clubs
