Initial Observations From an SSL Noob - nasbase - 2026-08-30

After being told all of the great things about SSL over the past year or so, I finally did the deed. So far I totally get why people have been telling me to join. Everyone has been super nice and cool so far, here's a couple more observations I've had of SSL so far.

First, I like the progression structure for players. Having one whole season in the "Academy" before moving up in to the more traditional model is very smart. It gives new players time to get acquainted with the league (and sim leagues in general if it's the first one for the new user) without feeling rushed or bombarded with new information.

Second, I love that the portal highlights ratings that may be important for your player when creating. Even though I personally own Football Manager, I still feel like a doofus with it since it is so deep! It gives new players a great starting point with building their players while still giving them creative freedom on how they want their player to be. The only thing I noticed (and it could be on my end), is that it can be kind of slow but except for that it's a great tool!

I am sure I will have more observations as I go through my Academy season, but super stoked to see how Rylee's career progresses (hopefully there will be lots of goals!).
