Strong Preseason in Dakar - siddhus - 2026-08-30
Projected by pretty much everyone to finish in the bottom two of the majors division 2, Daan Wouters did not have the highest hopes for the upcoming season, also knowing that he was bypassing the minors and as someone that just came from the academy he was going to jump right into the majors and hope that he could somehow keep up. So far for both the team and his personal performance, the transition has not seemed too tough.
While he left off the academy on a really nice goal contribution streak in the last two games, he decided to keep that going into the two friendlies against the other expansion team from Casablanca and Tokyo SC, an already established team that will be attempting to fight for promotion this season. While it is preseason and more often than not teams try to mix things up when creating tactics before the real season starts, the Yumboes did surprise the world as they finished with a big win against their expansion rivals and an exciting 4-4 draw against Tokyo where they won't be too happy that the team fell apart in the final minutes of the game, but the overall result is definitely a positive sign.
Wouters' finished with 2 assists against Casablanca, with one of those assists being for the first ever goal in Yumboes' history, and then in the second game he got on the scoresheet himself with a goal against Tokyo. While in Stockholm he was mostly employed as a right inside winger, he's had to switch over to the other side of the pitch for Dakar now as a left attacking midfielder, playing more of a winger role as a left footed player that can't cut in as well with his right foot. While he knows that these two games have taken a lot of luck, he knows that he is going to be the weakest point on the team so if he is able to hold his own against the other majors teams that he will come across, then Dakar could definitely surprise some teams this season. For now though, he looks forward to his first two games which will both coincidentally be against
, one to start the regular season and one in the cup.
