Trick Johnson from Shanghai Dragons FC jumps into 9th place with a 92.10 score. What immediately jumps off the page is the 1.20 assists per 90. Nobody else in the new top ten is even particularly close to that number. Marco Tentacles' s20 season is next at 0.83, meaning Johnson's actual assist production is on a completely different level from the other historically elite seasons on the list. They pair that with a 0.70 xA per 90, which is also the highest figure in the top ten. Then you get to the supporting numbers and it becomes pretty obvious why this season was good enough to break into such a difficult list. Johnson produced 7.47 key passes per 90 and 8.07 progressive passes while still creating 1.67 chances per 90. Considering assists, xA, and key passes account for 65% of the entire Playmaker score, that's about as good of a statistical profile as you could ask for. The one thing holding the season back is passing efficiency. Johnson's 81.27% pass rate is the lowest among the top ten. Pass percentage only carries a 10% weight, though, so it isn't nearly enough to erase what they accomplished in the much more heavily weighted creative categories. That makes ninth place almost feel misleading. Johnson didn't make this list by being pretty good everywhere. They made it by producing some of the most ridiculous assist and chance-generation numbers we've seen, with the weaker passing percentage being just enough to keep an otherwise historic creative season from climbing even higher. What's interesting about Emerson is the position attached to the performance. The original Presser list was overwhelmingly populated by defenders, wing backs, and wide midfielders. Emerson enters as an AM (RC), ST ( C ), giving us a much more attack-minded player producing the kind of defensive work rate normally associated with players much deeper on the field. The numbers explain how they got here. Emerson produced 4.87 successful presses per 90 at a 38.10% success rate, but the standout number is 3.72 tackles won per 90. That's actually the highest tackle rate of anyone in the updated top ten. Add 3.45 interceptions per 90 and Emerson wasn't simply applying pressure; they were consistently turning that pressure into defensive actions. Their 14.39 distance run per 90 is the weakest figure among the top ten, which helps explain why the final score doesn't climb higher. Distance covered accounts for 20% of the formula, while successful presses are another 35%, so there are stronger historical seasons in two heavily weighted areas. Still, an attacking midfielder/striker forcing their way onto a historical Presser list dominated by defensive players is impressive on its own. Emerson's s26 campaign adds a completely different player profile to this category and shows that elite pressing doesn't necessarily have to come from the back line. Their s26 campaign also enters the Wide Creator rankings, and this time they climb all the way to fourth with a 95.40 score. That puts Johnson behind only Furious Chicken's s19 season, Yoma Hashimoto's s22 campaign, and Henry Andrews' s17 performance. The headline number is 5.00 successful crosses per 90, the highest figure anywhere in the updated top ten. That's particularly important because successful crosses alone account for 35% of the Wide Creator score. Johnson wasn't just occasionally providing service from the left; they were producing successful deliveries at a rate even the best historical wide creators couldn't match. The 29.07% cross success rate isn't quite as dominant, but Johnson backs up the enormous crossing volume with 1.67 chances created and 2.93 open-play key passes per 90. Then there's the same number that helped propel them into the Playmaker rankings: 1.20 assists per 90. Only Henry Andrews' ridiculous 1.36 assists per 90 sits above Johnson on this list. What makes the performance particularly interesting is that Johnson reaches fourth through a different statistical profile than the players immediately around them. Furious Chicken combines volume with greater crossing efficiency. Henry Andrews reached third despite relatively low crossing volume because their chance creation numbers were absurd. Johnson's route is overwhelming crossing volume combined with enough creativity and end product to score highly everywhere else. One s26 season has therefore produced both a top-ten Playmaker performance and the fourth-best Wide Creator performance in Majors history. If the goal of these categories is to identify players who create dangerous situations in different ways, Johnson managed to make a pretty convincing case in both of them. Romana landing seventh overall with a 97.10 score. Hoppity's 3.93 dribbles per 90 is immediately impressive. Among the updated top ten, only Hun Possible's 5.14 and Furious Chicken's 4.43 are higher. Since dribbles carry 40% of the entire score, that gives Hoppity an extremely strong foundation. But as I mentioned when originally looking at this category, being a great dribbler isn't enough to make the Dribbler list. Hoppity also created 1.60 chances per 90, added 3.00 key passes, produced 6.87 progressive passes, and contributed 0.60 assists per 90. None of those supporting figures individually lead the group, but there isn't a major hole in the profile either. The result is exactly the type of balanced ball-progressing season that this formula tends to reward. It's also interesting considering Hoppity already appeared twice in the historical Defender rankings. Now an s26 season adds a Dribbler appearance to the résumé. A player showing up historically as both an elite defender and an elite ball carrier is a pretty good demonstration of why I wanted to look at roles rather than simply sorting everybody by their listed position. Hoppity didn't crack this list purely because of flashy dribbling volume. They did it because those dribbles were accompanied by enough progression and chance creation to turn carrying the ball into actual attacking value. Snor Lax's s26 campaign for Liffeyside Celtic FC debuts in sixth place with an 84.90 score. Unlike some of the more unusual goalkeeper seasons already on the list, there isn't one absurd number doing all of the work here. Lax instead puts together a balanced profile: a 7.30 average rating, 77.53% save percentage, 86.71% xSave, 0.24 xG prevented per 90, and 0.27 clean sheets per 90. The most important figure may be that 86.71% xSave rate. Among the updated top ten, only Elmis The Heretic's bizarre 107.27% season and Certified Problem's 87.74% are higher. Lax also adds 0.07 penalties saved per 90, something only a handful of keepers on the list managed at all. Where Lax loses ground is in some of the more heavily weighted categories. Save percentage accounts for 25% of the score, and 77.53% is the lowest mark in the updated top ten. The 0.24 xG prevented rate also trails most of the keepers ahead of them. With those two categories combining for 45% of the score, there isn't enough elsewhere to seriously threaten the very top. Still, sixth place across the entire history of Majors is nothing to dismiss. It also continues the trend I noticed in the original rankings toward recent goalkeeping seasons. After s24 put three different keepers into the top three and Duncan Walrusson added an s25 season in fifth, Lax now puts s26 directly behind them in sixth. Whatever the reason, the modern era continues to make its presence felt in the Goalkeeper rankings. Conclusion With season 26 added to the data, the biggest takeaway might simply be how difficult it is to break into these lists at this point. That said, we're comparing a new season against the best individual performances from the entire history of Majors, and yet s26 still managed to produce five new top-ten entries across four different players. What I like most is that none of them got there the same way. Johnson produced ridiculous creative numbers, Emerson combined attacking positions with defensive work rate, Hoppity paired dribbling with actual progression and chance creation, and Lax put together a balanced enough goalkeeping season to compete with some of the best we've seen. And that's really the point of these rankings in the first place. They're not trying to answer who had the most assists, crosses, tackles, or saves. They're trying to identify seasons where a player put together an elite overall statistical profile within a particular role. Season 26 gave us several of those. It didn't completely rewrite the history books, nobody took over a number one spot, and most of the established names survived another season. But four players did enough to force someone else out of a historical top ten, and Trick Johnson came within three spots of the top in two separate creative roles. After 26 seasons worth of competition, simply making one of these lists is an accomplishment.
