One Week in NSU - Quitolis - 2026-09-06
It has been a whirlwind for Thomas Thunder after arriving in New Zealand. There was very limited time to get training with the new squad before the got into the friendlies for this season. Fortunately there are 4 other rookies on the squad so it is helped the transition be smooth. There are also 2 players who are in their second season, and then 4 old veterans who have more than 10 seasons each under their belt. The first few friendlies went fantastic and Thunder scored a few goals, really setting in well with the new team. But then the real games start!
Match Day 1 was a bit of a shock for all the rookies. Ahead of the game they thought there was a chance, but that was far from true. After an injury to the goalie, they went on to loose 8-0. The post game locker room was a pretty shocked place, but not demoralized. They all know there is a long ways to go. The next opportunity to put that to the test came soon in a Cup Qualifying match against Casablanca. This one worked out much better and they managed a smooth 3-2 win against the brand new Major League team! A total turnaround from the Paris loss. Lastly was a nice 3-2 win against Mpanjaka to give the rookies their first league victory! While still an incredibly young roster, they feel the growth together!
Thunder has had a few great moments, especially in the Cup game against Casablanca, but still a loooong way to go!
