Catalunya condemn Liffey to relegation - fathands3k - 2026-10-18
Despite falling short by not winning the Division 2 title, Catalunya put that disappointment behind them to beat Liffeyside Celtic and promote themselves back to the promised land and produce the last knockout punch to Liffey after a disastrous season for the men from Dublin.
In a closely fought match, Catalunya came out ahead in a 5 goal thriller with Salazar doing the damage by scoring a brace with Fry gettting that all important winner in the 77th minute. Nervy defending at times looked liked Liffey could have came back into the match but the Spanish side held on. In crunch games such as this it's not how you play, it's that you win and they will be thrilled to end their season on a high and test their game out at the highest level.
Liffey however will rue their dreadful start to the season and nearly managed to erase this seasons memory but will now need to regroup and focus on trying to get themselves promoted at the first time of asking.
Now though the hard work will really begin as all teams look forward to the draft and scout out any trade potential to improve their squads. Change will be inevitable and next season will be one to watch out for. But congratulations to Catalunya for continuing to produce winning results despite some difficult times in the last few weeks.
