Opinion on the new Portal UI - Bergmau - 2026-10-29
Considering it's the offseason I figured it would be a good time to talk about the new UI that was introduced to the SSL portal at the end of last week.
There are a few things I noticed but I might have missed something so feel free to add.
First thing I noticed was the new players sliding in on the top of the landing page. Nice touch to welcome the new players. Certainly makes the new guys feel welcomed and seen. I like it.
Next thing I noticed is once you go to your player page, you have a new view of your stats and we added some boxes to the player profile on the left. Both changes impove the visibility. The boxes give a slightly more modern look and make it easier to focus on the topics within. Regarding the player stats, I like the colorcoding. Nice touch to allow the user to immediately see strengths and weaknesses of the player one is looking at. Adding the boxes here as well behind each stat allows the user to check the numerical value with more ease. I am not sure if this is new or I just never noticed it but the way the explanation pops up when hovering over the respective stat is also very clear and satisfying.
Overall a good update, although the changes are on the smaller side in my opinion. Nonetheless looking forward to more improvements in the future.

Considering it's the off season and I'm brand new to all this, thought I would throw my two cents (or pence, depending which side of the pond you live on) in as well.
I don't know how easy this would be to develop - not really my bag - but have you folks considered a dedicated app? Also had some points on the portal as accessible from mobile, see below:
1. Rather than 'Loading' and a buffer symbol, maybe get an SSL badge in there, spinning or otherwise? It's only for a second or two, tops, but got to promote that brand!
2. The top left button to select season number / Home / Trackers / Index feels a little on the small side (maybe my fingers are too fat?).
3. I click on Trackers or Index, and the drop down text is black, which doesn't stand out well against the grey. If I close the main drop down menu and then open it again, it changes to white text. Then, clicking the Trackers or Index options turns the text black again. And so on...
4. Option for different colour themes? I notice the main colours for SSL are white blue and gold, could have the option to switch from the grey background to blue, or maybe in your team's colours?
5. Bar to pick season number extends off the right hand side of the drop down menu.
6. With colour coding player attributes, maybe give the option (like the various Football Manager skins) to change the colours?
That'll probably do for now, don't want whoever develops this to think I'm ragging them! Keep up the good work!
EDIT: Also just noticed that 7. There doesn't seem to be a Scotland flag! MY guy just has 'SCO' visible instead.
