Stop Calling - DidYouSeeThatLudicrousDisplay? - 2026-11-02 I was awoken by my phone buzzing on the nightstand next to me. Bleary eyed, I picked it up, wincing at the brightness of the screen. I figured that if anyone was calling me at four o'clock in the morning, it absolutely had to be an emergency. Or one would think. My eyes finally adjusted, and I saw who was calling. Kaz Okada. I answered groggily. "Why do you sound so tired? Didn't sleep good last night?" he asked, causing me to sigh. "It's four AM... what do you want?" "It's four in the afternoon; wake up, you bum!" he scolded, and I could hear the sounds of a busy street as he was walking down it. "Where are you?" "I went home! I just got done visiting with some friends. You should have hung out with us. This is why people don't invite you places." I sighed audibly over the line. "Kaz. You're in Japan; I went back to the States, so there's a huge time difference, so yes, it's four AM here... and I didn't hang out because I'm in the United States, and no offer of an invitation was ever given." He decided not to refute this, instead choosing to double down. "I'm sure I invited you, you just forgot." He had not. "I'm going back to bed. Goodbye, Kaz." And with that, I hung up. I can not wait for this offseason to be over. Code: Word Count: 239 Words |
