- diamond_ace - 2022-07-30 In the wake of the expansion draft, AS Paris had some work to do to ensure we'd remain competitive and try to keep our Div 1 status for yet another season. The first immediate issue that sprung to mind was solving a glaring hole between the sticks - Radek Soboda was taken in the expansion draft, so there was no goalie set to don Paris colors for the upcoming season. However, as it turns out, Cairo had 2 goalies and one of them, Borey Barflett, went into free agency. Manager SteveAiva quickly secured the signature of Barflett, who is now set to play in Paris for the next two seasons, and the first domino would fall. From Wash's perspective, this was the biggest thing to figure out, as the defense and the goalie have to get out on the training ground together and build a rapport, which could now be done with Barflett under contract. The next thing, and one of the most important long term, was to sign all the S4 players to further contracts - Wash being one of them. He'd quickly agree to 3 seasons, 3 million per season, as would his teammates Peter Oak, Twilight Sparkle, Sebastian Pelletier, Isabela Cortez, and Mac Allister. As these are all fairly young players, being from the S4 class (not all draftees - Wash for example signed on waivers shortly after the draft) this is presumably the long term base of the team. Finally, the new draftee would also sign for Paris and secure his future with the team for the next 2 seasons - midfielder Tim Etodeliverapizzaball, for 2 seasons, 2 million per season. With this signing, AS Paris would also have to offer a slight bonus to the kit man, since he'd have to arrange for a wider name plate on the back of one kit so that the name Etodeliverapizzaball would fit on it. |
