- diamond_ace - 2022-08-21 I know it's theme week, but I have like 5 hours to get this in and I can't be bothered right now to write on a specific topic, so this will just be a continuation of my existing series. It's easier and quicker, and it still gets me the regular weekly points, just not the bonus. Let's jump right in, starting at 8. 8. Seoul Mythic Let's make one thing clear here - we are definitely well into the teams I really don't mind one way or the other. That could be said for a few of last week's list as well, but if there was any doubt, we're definitely in that area now. I really don't mind Seoul and would be largely fine with them. Having said that, what is with the creepy face looking thing in their logo? It kind of looks like a kabuki mask, but kabuki is Japanese, not Korean, and if it's not that, then I have no idea what it is - and honestly, it's a bit unsettling. Plus it's not like South Korea is exactly the footballing hotspot that some of these places are - then again neither are USA, Australia, Japan, South Africa, you get the idea. 7. FC Kaapstad I actually think this is a pretty fun concept, Cape Town but in I assume Afrikaans. I don't mind the idea of expansion teams either, given that Paris isn't terribly far removed from being one ourselves, and given the realistic city possibilities in South Africa I think Cape Town made the most sense (Johannesburg isn't a capital, and the other two capitals, Pretoria and Bloemfontein, are less well known to the wider world than Cape Town - especially a sim league audience). The only real drawback here, and it's a minor one considering how many other teams have had this going against them as well as something else - South Africa's not really known for the sport. Despite having hosted a relatively recent world cup, South Africa just isn't on the level of Egypt or Ghana (or Ivory Coast, or Senegal, or Nigeria, or Cameroon, etc) so given that we have two other African clubs in what I consider to be better locations, I just can't go that high on these guys. Also, it's a testament to how strong the African contingent is here that all three have made the top half of the rankings (and mild spoiler here, one of them is in my top 3). Just the two teams this week, since 14 doesn't divide evenly into threes. |
