Should I feint? Will I win this battle with speed? Technical skill? Something else? Regardless of my decision, it will be met with a mix of jeers and cheers. Unless, of course, I beat my man with conviction. With a goal, there is only limitless unadulterated praise.

The lights above me are so overwhelming that when I look into the stands, I fail to make our faces but instead see a dark massless mob of people. But the sounds? The deafening roar overtakes my senses. My body, aching from exertion, feels only adrenaline as the eruption of noise continues until I wake up.”

K. was born outside the world of sports. Never the fastest, nor the strongest, but always the hardest working. K. has never known if any of his skill is truly natural or not, but visions of belonging, of inciting riots with his play, have impelled multiple practices both with team mates and alone each day to develop and master an array of skills.

K. started play with a local club team in middle school. Demanding to be played at Striker, K. found that the crowd of parents was most riled up when he scored goals from outside the box. And so, K. consistently shot beautifully arched balls from corners of the box to the corner of the net. For brief moments he considered himself an astronomer, calculating power, angles, finesse, the physics of his imminent efforts. While the stands celebrated his masterpieces, his coaches were concerned that he was failing to develop as a complete striker.

K. promoted to a U20 academy team early in high school, where his coach suggested playing K. at winger. Here, K. could beat defenders one in on one, manipulate midfielders with quick give and go passes, and startle goalies with his remarkable shots from distance.

As a winger, K. found that he could conduct the noise of the crowd, now his orchestra, as his play informed the crowd how to audibly react to his play. Rabonas elicit gasps, nutmegs cheers, and of course, goals joyful screams.

An inspired and hard working player, K. aims to someday play in such a setting that he may become blind. In London, K. hopes to play with an intensity that fills stands, evokes elation, and leave his mark forever in a world he was never sure he belonged in, but has felt called by dreams to conquer.

APPROVED - omniscius - 2021-11-29 Budget Busquets was born in Sabadell, Barcelona, Catalonia. Busquets began playing football with local team CD Badia del Vallès, followed by spells with CEF Barberà Andalucía, Lleida and UFB Jàbac Terrassa, before joining Barcelona's youth ranks. It was here where Busquets developed Barca DNA. Busquets is your typical Barca player: he has exceptional passing and first touch, extremely high football iq, and a desire to play with the ball. Busquets made his name in the Barca ranks for his abilities to win the ball back through positional awareness nd anticipation, as well as being able to retain possession even when being pressed in his own half.

Budget Busquets isn't as athletic as his peers, but many of his youth coaches and peers in the Barca academy swore by his tactical intelligence. Maybe say that Busquets' tactical intelligence even surpasses Xavi and Pep Guardiola's. Athênai FC reached out to Busquets about their inaugural season in the SSL. With a team built around the midfield, Athênai FC knew someone like Busquets would be the one to lead and orchestrate the team from the back. Whether it be from midfield or defence, Busquet is going to be an important piece of what looks to be an incredibly fast and agile team. With players around him covering up for his lack of speed, Busquets looks to have a team set up perfectly for his unique skillset.

With Budget Busquets making the move from Catalonia to Athens, the question remains how will Busquets adjust to leaving home for the first time? How will he adjust to a new league now being placed in a professional men's league no longer playing against youth his age? For Budget Busquets, the goal this season is to win the inaugural SSL with Athênai FC and make his international senior debut for Spain (or Catalonia if they ever manage to seperate).

APPROVED - ZootTX - 2021-11-29 George Costanza was born and raised by Frank and Estelle Costanza in Brooklyn, New York. George had a typical upbringing, and was unremarkable, both academically and athletically through his childhood and well into adolescence. George was an only child, and a bit of a loner, to be honest. While most kids in New York’s public schools were into sports like football and baseball, George wasn’t into athletics much. When he got to high school, his father decided that he needed to at least try out for some sort of athletic endeavor, and George begrudgingly settled on soccer. George picked soccer because that’s where all the other kids being forced into athletics went, and he figured that he could blend in, make a small effort, and fly under the radar in his typical mediocrity. Unfortunately for George, the coach was a bit of a sadist and wouldn’t let him slide by. Shockingly, George found he had no small talent for the game, and would end up playing all 4 years of high school, although his school’s team had very little success on the field. After high school, George was invited to tryout for the Long Island Rough Riders, a minor league soccer team and affiliate of New York City FC. There George continued to develop his soccer skills and was a notable player on the Rough Riders for a few seasons until he caught the eye of the San Antonio FC, also an NYC FC and so George made the long move to Texas where he excelled as a defender and was instrumental in the team’s success. George was not happy in San Antonio, however, as he missed NYC something fierce, and was ecstatic when NYC FC offered him a contract there. Unfortunately, during training camp, George suffered an ankle injury that put him out for the year, and NYC terminated his contract. George struggled through his physical therapy and rehab, and when he heard about the SSL, he immediately declared for the draft. Despite his skills, George fell in the draft, until he was taken in the 5th round, pick 26 OA by Football Club De Rio. George loves Rio so far and is excited to prove himself there!

CODE

369 words

APPROVED - Vulfzilla - 2021-11-29 Icarus Isosceles was born in Seattle, Washington, the son of immigrant parents who had travelled from Greece to the United States in search of a better life. As a child, Icarus was always obsessed with soccer, waking up extra early on Saturday and Sunday mornings to watch the premier league, and often skipping school in order to watch the mid week champions league matches.

Once he started playing in local youth leagues, it was obvious that he was a cut above his peers and was instantly noticed by one of the Seattle Sounders academy scouts. They offered him a trial with the club, but his dream was always to play in Europe like the games he watched on tv. So instead of accepting the offer his family reached out to some connections back in the motherland and were able to get him into a youth academy in Athens with Athenai FC. Normally it would be impossible for a player of such a young age to go overseas in order to join a club, but due to his parents' Greek citizenship, he was able to make it happen.

Once he arrived in Athens, he began moving up the ranks of the academy clubs often playing a year or two above his age. While his original position was a distributing center midfielder, it was here where one of his coaches recognized his immense dribbling ability which when combined with his astonishing speed, made him a devastating player cutting in from the right. He watched video after video of former Bayern Munich star, Arjen Robben, whose similar skillset was a heavy influence on how the Athenai coaches wanted him to play.

Recently, Icarus was given the call he'd always dreamed about.. the call to let him know he would be moving up to the Senior club. As the team is preparing for its first season in the SSL, Icarus is busy making sure he will be ready to help the team when the time comes. Icarus has been given the number 7 shirt by the club and with his Greek roots, he's already becoming a fan favorite in the city. Look for him to be one of the leaders of the club that will hopefully be fighting for the inaugural championship once the season gets underway!

WC: 383

APPROVED - Urq660 - 2021-11-30 Alessio Calvatore was born and raised in the city of Parma, in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy. Being born in a region famous for its food, especially its cheese and prosciutto, things could easily have happened very differently for young Alessio, as they had for his father, Roberto.

Roberto was also a gifted footballer. A left back, he came through the youth system at Parma FC, watching the golden generation of Parma win trophy after trophy, players likeThomas Brolin, Gianfranco Zola, Fabio Cannavaro, Gigi Buffon, the list goes on! He knew it would be hard to break into that team. Then, in 2003, following the Parmalat scandal, the club spiralled into insolvency, and Roberto found himself out on his ear, with the rest of the Reserve squad. With Alessio on the way, and no source of income, Roberto gave up his dreams of football and took a job in a bakery. He owns a successful chain of bakeries in the city, and has always done all he could to give his son every opportunity to follow his dream.

Alessio loved football, almost from the time he could walk. He would watch Serie A games with his father at the weekend, and when he was a bit older, take in the games of the reformed Parma Calcio 1913, as they are now known. His father was extremely reluctant to let him join the youth academy of his home team, due to the constant financial instability of the club, leading to fears of a repeat of what happened to Roberto and the dashing of his sons dreams. He enrolled him in the youth academy at nearby Sassuolo, who were just rising to prominence. As a fan, Alessio liked players who controlled the game, held the ball up, pinged passes around the pitch to unlock the tightest of defences. He knew he wasn’t the most athletic player, so this role suited him well! And he was lucky to have a great game for Sassuolo’s reserves, in a game against Bologna’s reserves, where a scout for the newly formed SSL was in attendance. A quick trip to the combine and a chat with a few of the managers, and his talent and potential was there for all to see. In the SSL entry draft, Calvatore was picked 1st overall by Cairo City, and he is excited to be a part of their inaugural season, and hopefully many more.

APPROVED - Thunfish - 2021-11-30 Squall Vercetti was born in Cornwall, Canada but moved with his family at age five when his father was granted a job at a New York-based fishery with relatives. Said fishery turned out to be a front for the mob and soon, both of his parents were found to be linked with criminal activities - neither would survive the ensuing gunfight when the police arrived to put a kibosh to their operations. Even before that, Squall lived an erratic life, mistreated by his father and ignored by his mother to the point where he grew a heavily skeptical outlook towards anything and anyone.

After being found alone at age 11 in his old house, right before being evicted from the place, Squall was sent to St. Matthew's Orphanage with hopes of being adopted - something that failed to come to be. The boy grew to have a troublesome relation with public life, managing a total of seven sentences at Juvenile Detention under claims of minor theft. When not stuck in jail, he played soccer in academies via try-outs but due to a lack of funds, never managed to properly attend one. In spite of this, he was well recommended by most scouts that managed to get a look at the boy, as long as the team was able to get his head back in place.

With a playing style that focuses on contact and street strength, Vercetti was called via the draft to the upcoming SSL as a member of the Tokyo Soccer Club. While the season hasn't started yet, Squall has been seen as the team's rough and tough member. His criminal background made him a person of questionable repute in Japan but the fans seem to believe he might be very useful in Tokyo, partnering up with fellow newcomer Mike Rup as the back of the team's skeleton.

When asked how he would describe himself, Squall first replied with a flat "I wouldn't" before being coerced to give a better response. According to the man himself, Tokyo should expect a competent, if not slightly violent, center-back with a mind open for working out fundamentals and teamwork, two things he admitted with having little experience with. "Hard to play with others when most of the time I played against others", he stated during a previous interview for the draft.

APPROVED - 3lewsers - 2021-11-30 Tiki Taka is the pride of Poland. Growing up in Warsaw, Taka was the son of a tailor and a hairdresser. His family never had a lot of money, but they never went hungry. As a child, Tiki always had a penchant for sports and competition. Taka started crawling at 3 weeks old, and was walking before he was 3 months. When he played with blocks, he always won. He used to race the other neighborhood kids for pounds of kielbasa and pierogies. Because of this, the Taka household refrigerator and freezer were overflowing with tons of food. Most of the parents in the area had to take on second and third jobs as they were short on food due to Tiki's successful winnings. As he entered middle school, he started to play futbol. From the get go, he was a natural. No one was able to match his ability on the pitch. Over time, he learned to hone his selfish play, and worked to involve his teammates more and more. He was no longer interested in being a showoff. It had become boring. He was now focused on being an all-around team player. His teammates slowly began to appreciate him as a teammate, and so did the other player's parents. Until that point, no one really wanted to be on the team with him. Tiki needed to learn how to be accepted. Once able to understand that, Taka was accepted as a real member of the team and community. As he entered high school, things continued to improve. He was the cornerstone of a team that won 4 consecutive Polish high school championships. This was no small feat, as no team had ever won two in a row prior to this accomplishment. As Taka moved onto university, he thanked everyone that made an impact on his life. He apologized for his egotistical ways and vowed to continue his life in a positive way. He wanted nothing else than to be regarded as the best futbol striker in the world, not just in Poland. He is well on his way, but there are dozens of others that intend to take that crown. It may take years to decide who the greatest is, but very soon the arguments will begin. He wouldn't want it any other way.

APPROVED |
