- diamond_ace - 2022-08-28 We're definitely getting up near the top of the list now, so these teams will be mostly positive. Honestly I actually really like these teams, just not quite as much as the top 3. 6. Cairo City Cairo I'm slightly above neutral to. The only real knock I have on them is that (City Name) City always makes me think of the group of teams affiliated with Manchester City (NYCFC, Melbourne City, Mumbai City, Montevideo City Torque, I thought going into this that Polokwane City was part of it but I just looked it up and they're not). On the positive end though, Egypt is a pretty major soccer country especially in recent years, Africa is always a unique place to play when most teams will be in Europe or South America, and brown and yellow is an interesting and rare color scheme. 5. CA Buenos Aires These guys are a bit hard to rank given I just found out glowy went inactive. They were absolutely going to be at 4 just based on glowy being one of my favorite sim leaguers ever. Still though, I can't knock them much, fun team in a strong soccer hotbed, their manager is one of 4 managers I had a good chat with when I first made my guy (it's no coincidence that 3 of the top 5 teams in my rankings had 3 of these managers - the fourth I still very much appreciated the chat and would have enjoyed his team at the time but it ranked lower due to recent occurrences in the sim, no fault of said manager at all). 4. Montreal United Even being biased against teams called United, I still have to place these guys high. Canada's not exactly known for the sport either, even with their recent surge in ability over the past few years. I just really like these two particular shades of green, I like the fleur de lis, I like the whole team concept, and this was another manager I had a nice chat with prior to being on Paris. Additionally, and probably most importantly, I'm biased. Drogba played for Montreal Impact, and given that he's my favorite player of all time, I have to admit a bit of favoritism toward teams he was on (I'm a Chelsea fan overall, but if Montreal or Phoenix Rising are playing teams that aren't my local Pittsburgh Riverhounds, I'll support them ahead of whoever they're against). If you've been following along, you know which 3 teams are left. Obviously spot #1 is taken, but who will be 2 and who will be 3? Find out next week (maybe even in a few hours just to get it out of the way). |
