It will definitely be an uphill climb for Sao Paulo to get back into the race for promotion to the first division. As of the writing of this article, the table currently shows the following:

Adowa Accra FC - 16 Points, +12 Goal Differential
Montreal United - 14 Points, +6 Goal Differential
FC Kaapstad - 12 Points, -2 Goal Differential
CA Buenos Aires - 10 Points, +3 Goal Differential
Uniao Sao Paulo - 10 Points, -7 Goal Differential
Inter London - 3 Points, -12 Goal Differential

As for how we got here on this 8th matchday in the Simulation Soccer League's Second Division, I will do my best to quickly recap how each game helped or hurt my squad's chances.

FC Kaapstad vs Montreal United
Going into the game, both FC Kaapstad and Montreal United were in decent position, at least to get into the playoff. In the end, the game ended in a 2-2 draw, which gave each of them 1 point.

Adowa Accra FC vs Inter London
This was a battle of first place and last place teams, so it was always going to be a struggle for Inter London. Besides points, Accra leads the league in Goals for and Inter London has the fewest by far at 3. These numbers ended where they did because today's game ended up as a 2-0 win to Accra. The number one team in the league dominated from start to finish, according to the commentators.

Buenos Aires vs Sao Paolo
This one hurt for sure, as Sao Paolo surely viewed this game as a must win as their next two games are against Montreal United and Inter London. Buenos Aires was 3 points behind Sao Paulo with 7 to their 10. Though they could ill afford to lose, that's just what Sao Paulo did, losing by a score of 5-2. It will be a huge task to overtake the 3 teams in front of them in a fight for 2nd place.

Supposing we somehow win our next two games, that has us at 16 points. If Buenos Aires loses against Accra and ties Kaapstad, then our two victories would bring us to 2nd, but that is only if Accra destroys Kaapstad. We have to beat Montreal next week. Buenos Aires is only 4 points back, and could sneak into the 2nd slot. They play Inter London and then Kaapstad, so if we were to each come up with 6 points, they would beat us out due to our less than stellar GD. Let's hope things can fall our way.
