As many have now heard, AS Paris is facing relegation this season, and will start next season in the second tier of SSL. Given our length of time in the league comparatively, it's not really that surprising that this happened, and is perhaps a success in and of itself that we managed to hold it off as long as we did. Having said that, some other new teams are now doing well, having gone through their Division 2 season and come back up to Division 1. Adowa Accra, who joined the league at the same time we did, won Division 2 pretty handily, and frankly didn't really appear threatened much of the way. Hopefully we share a similar fate next season, walk Division 2, and reclaim our top tier spot. Additionally, Uniao Sao Paulo, who have never even appeared in the top tier at all (last season in Division 2 was their inaugural season) have won the hard fought second spot and will also be coming up (it was close run between the rest of the Division 2 teams, except Accra at the top and London at the bottom, and ultimately Sao Paulo just about edged it out).

Given the relegation, Steve offered the team a chance to leave if we felt it was necessary for our careers. To the contrary, the prevailing wisdom seemed to be that people wanted to stay, which I know for me in particular there was never really a decision to be made - I was always staying and didn't really even hesitate. If this is already a team on the border of the two tiers, then we already have a strong chance of just coming right back up. Ideally, we'll be in a position to add one or two more guys and make the next trip to Division 1 a permanent one.
