- Frenchie - 2022-10-13 Pre-season was undoubtebly challenging for newcomer Bismo Funyuns, having had issues obtaining a work visa from the Canadian authorities when trying to join his team at training camp in Montreal. Apparently, issues had risen in regards to his identity, the core problem being that they suspected a fake identity based off of a skit done by Comedy Central stars, Key & Peele. Despite explaining that the character had been based off of him multiple times, the directors and comics had to be directly contacted to confirm these allegations. That being said, Bismo kept active and after joining for a single pre-season game in which he looked sharp, held his promise as a young superstar in the making with solid performances to kick off Montreal United’s season. With an assist from a stellar corner delivery in their first match of the regular season against a very competitive AS Paris side, Bismo showed all his brilliance, standing out as a mainstay for the French-Canadian side. In both appearances this season against Paris and Seoul, Bismo had a solid 7.3 rating with two consistent showings. With an assist and two shots on goals, the box-to-box midfielder proved that he could contribute offensively as well as being defensively sound, also providing 7 key passes and 6 successful crosses in the final third resulting in 2 created chances. Other than his clear offensive prowess, the Floridian midfielder posts a mouth-watering 92.09% pass completion having completed 128 passes out of an attempted 139. Despite the limited sample size that might come to provide some doubt into his ability to keep up this surprising pace, he has so far provided stability in the Montreal midfield and given manager Big Newff a solid option and a bit of breathing space in tactics. It will be important to see defensive progression so that he may become an untouchable at the club. 312 words |
