Sydney. The land down under. What once was an attraction city for all things in the Simulated Soccer League has now become a place to avoid. The abandoned team of the league and even the landing spot for other teams extra players, Sydney was probably not a place that the league and the commissioner thought that would be where they are. But look at us. The lively new faces of the team have brought a new culture and identity to the team after the championship veterans all left it to become rubbish. The GM and coach of the team really selling the aspect of being a group and a core that will not be able to compete now but will be a force in the next couple of seasons or so.
What was appealing to me was able to be on the same field as my brother, Roberto Scarpetta. There were plenty of teams that were interested in one of us but could not guarentee the addition of the both of us. New to the league but not new to the sun league community, it was a great fit for a team that was rebuilding that can guarentee a couple of active players in the tough turn around of a team that was left with empty stalls in the locker room. Two new faces looking around the beautiful city and country with nothing but spiders, it could help the team make a quick and swift turn around in the right direction and that is what I want to be apart of.
Joining another sim league, I knew what it would be like. But having the chance to team up with my brother and really be the staples of the rebuild to a new legacy that Sydney is going towards was super exciting for me and for him from what I understand. Everyone dreams of joining a league and being a poster boy for a team or a league, having a statue outside the stadium and players in the streets growing up trying to be as successful on the pitch like you. And that’s what we want to do, create a wall and a new winning culture here in Australia.
