- r1c3bowl22 - 2021-12-15 Rewind back to the inaugural Simulation Soccer League entry draft and you'll find an anxious Franco Torres. The striker was very eager to prove himself in the new soccer league, wanting very badly to make an instant impact. However, he had to wait until the ninth and final round for his name to be called. As his team's last pick of the draft, the Cairo City Football Club finally called Torres' name. You didn't need to be an expert to realize how angry Torres was to have been picked so late. However, "it is what it is, these fools that passed on me are gonna look real silly", Torres said with a smirk. Fast forward to the team's first game. In a preseason match against Tokyo SC, Torres managed to secure a brace scoring in the 48th and 88th minute. This helped secure his team's victory. In Cairo City's first regular season match, Torres was rather average. He didn't make the instant impact he had hoped, but he let that fuel him for his next game. In Matchday two, Torres scored in the 32nd and 39th minutes. That brace helped secure Cairo City's second regular season win of the season in a tight 3-2 win over a strong Hollywood FC. Matchday three didn't result in the kind of game that Torres and Cairo City wanted. They ended up losing 1-4 to an average Athenai FC. The following match, Cairo City lost 0-1 in a very close game against Inter London. Again, these disappointments helped Torres get pumped for the next game. In match day five, Torres scored two goals helping his team secure a solid victory against Inter London. As it stands, Torres is tied for third with four goals. He also has five shots on target, which means he's basically been automatic given a successful shot on goal. If Torres can be a bit more consistent game to game, the SSL had better watch out. |
