- ZootTX - 2021-12-23 Prior to being selected by FC de Rio, George Costanza hadn't given much thought to living in another country at all. George was vaguely familiar with the famous Christ the Redeemer statue and of course Carnaval, but did know much else about Rio other than it was somewhere in South America. As George packed his stuff for the long plane trip to Rio, he wondered what it would be like. He knew he would miss home, as he'd spent his entire life living in New York City or close by, so he was a bit nervous about leaving. However, he hoped that he would have a good time making new friends and seeing new things, and of course, get to play soccer! Stepping off of the plane, George was greeted with a host of new sights, sounds, and smells. While he was used to being in a densely packed urban environment, growing up in New York City, every place is different. He was met at the airport by a team rep, who hooked him up with a hotel and promised to show him the city the next day, as well as help him find an more permanent residence. The next day, the rep showed him around until George found a modest apartment that wasn't too far from the team facilities. One thing George will have to get used to is not having a subway to get around. Most of Rio either walks, rides a scooter, or hails a taxi. George is sure to get his steps in! George didn't bring a ton of stuff with him from the states, so he also had to arrange for some basic furniture to be delivered to his apartment. He doesn't need to live in luxury but does like a nice bed to sleep in. As George drifts off to sleep he wonders what will be in store next for him on this grand adventure.
