- Puppy - 2023-12-04 QSW: Muñoz - The Metronome of Medellin Heading into the final trio of games for the academy season, Atletico Medellin continues their campaign to win the academy title. With fierce competition from Victoria, and Stockholm within striking distance, there is everything to play for in the final three matches. However, as unstable and active as the title race in the academy league is, nothing is as stable, and secure, as the defensive midfielder holding down the lines for Atletico. Nicolás Muñoz, a Mexican born midfielder, has provided the tempo and pace for many of Atletico’s most important matches. The front line for one of the league’s best defense, Muñoz has been setting record numbers in possession, well on pace to complete a staggering 2,000 passes over the 18-match season. Wang Zhihao spoke highly of his fellow midfielder when asked in a recent interview in Colombia. “As part of a midfield unit, there is no one more reliable than Nicolás. He covers so much ground, I never feel worried making runs up the field. But more than that, he creates the tempo of the game, both teams are forced to play at his speed – and often, our opponents see little of the ball as a result. Nicolás is really just a fantastic player, it’s an honor to share the pitch with them.” |
