Pete Martell Arrives in Medellin - ComebackZak - 2024-01-14 After being discovered following a many teenage years of dominating local competition, Pete Martell was recruited to the Simulation Soccer League Academy Grounds team Atletico Medellin. Pete was beyond excited as this was the first step toward his dream of playing professionally but he was also filled with a lot of anxiety leaving not only his home but his country! After Pete said goodbye to his family for the time being as he prepares for the biggest challenge of his life, he boards his flight to Medellin that will take 13 hours from Seattle airport. Once the flight landed, Pete was picked up by a team representative and taken to the housing that he would share with his fellow teammates. He was exhausted but happy to see the faces he will get to know during this stepping stone and possible future teammates or rivals. There was a small initial adjustment period but training everyday and having translators to communicate around the team facility helped build rapport. The first game of the Academy season quickly approached and the first opponent is against Stockholm. It was never really close as Medellin took an early 2-0 lead and never looked back as the final after full time was 3-1, Medellin. Pete played the entire match and contributed fairly but did not register any points. To Pete, it was just good to get out there and get the initial match out of the way and building trust with his teammates. Code: 246 words |
