Dion Meredith - To go pro, career change was needed - cambrown601 - 2024-02-17

A star in the college basketball scene out of Australia, Dion Meredith has made the shock decision to instead, chase a career in the SSL league. Dion has justified his decision, saying that he just does not have the height to compete at the elite levels he desired to get to with basketball, whereas a professional career in soccer is within his reach. His rapid pace has always been a difference maker on the court, with Dion able to explode past defenders, but would always find it a struggle to get shots off over the taller defenders, and as his frustrations grew, so too did his love of the game began to dwindle. Team mates noted he had started to check out of trainings, and at the conclusion of those trainings, would leave to play 5 a side soccer at the local pitch.

As his skills increased, so too did Dion's ability to use his pace. Although a bit raw, Dion has made his way into the academy at Atletico Medellin. Despite this academy already having a very attacking roster, Dion stated that this is exactly the type of situation that would benefit him the most. "Being newer to the game than others, it's really beneficial for me to learn from other players within the academy, and coaches dedicated to teaching attacking skills".

Expecting to come off the bench in his upcoming debut, could Dion be the game changer that teams drafting players need? This winger looking to bomb up and down the wing all game, attacking the back of the defense and making plays for both his team mates and others.

On a personal note, super excited to be a part of the league. Having done FM saves in the past (tier 7 to prem for example) it'll be fun to manage a player in the league and keep up with updates and posts that others make.
