From Timbits to the Academy - JR95 - 2024-03-23 Cormier may be a French national on his registration papers with the Simulation Soccer League, but his roots are a little more spread out than that designation may make it seem. He spent a lot of his childhood split between France and Canada, and resided in Gatineau for a large part of his later childhood. Though his family's love for soccer was evident from the onset, Cormier really started to develop his own passion for the beautiful game in the ever popular timbits recreational league in Canada. It was there that he got his first taste of the pitch, and made friendships that would last throughout the years and the constant back and forth. Eventually as his parents realized he was taking things a little more serious than some of the other kids, Cormier was offered the chance to try out for some of the lower level competitive leagues. In his first tryout session for D-1 competitive soccer he got pulled aside by the coach who told him he thought Cormier would be a great candidate to tryout for the premiere level team. He finished the day at that tryout, but the next weekend reported to the Premiere level tryout and made the team straight out of camp. The rest is history and it's been a steady climb through the ranks for Cormier who now finds himself suiting up for his very first Academy League game this season. The journey isn't over yet though, but the ultimate goal of making the SSL is just around the corner. |
