Fry debuts for Seoul - CuriousShadow - 2024-12-01

Bernardo Fry was not a hotly awaited prospect.  Confused - certainly.  Disreputable, probably.  Nevertheless, Bernardo has only existed in this universe for a few weeks, so little was really expected of him.  His preseason with Seoul was eventful, with a shattered wrist leading him to change his focus from throwing the ball - instead he'll be making unreasonably optimistic passes, sometimes to teammates.

The opening match of the season was Seoul vs Athenai - in the 24th minute Fry's shoelace came undone and he fell over when it snagged on his other boot.  However, the referee blew his whistle and pointed to the spot.  Despite Fry's remonstrations about the poor state of his laces, the decision stood.  Bamford understood though, and easily put the penalty wide.

After a fairly lackluster performance in the second half, the 72nd minute was punctuated by Fry calling for the ball.  As the pass came his way, Louie Duck wasted no time in sweeping both legs from beneath Bernardo.  Narrowly avoiding a nasty injury, Fry looked up to the referee pointing right at him!  Despite Fry's protestations of innocence, a penalty was awarded again Duck.  This time Bamford put the ball securely home, with the No More Kings play no longer legal in the current state of the game.

For the rest of the game, Fry bumbled about, completing unimportant passes and losing the ball with alarming frequency.  We've spoken before about the knowledge injected into Fry's brain, but we have not yet seen that knowledge translate into on the pitch results.  Who knows what we'll see going forward?  Obviously, Fry will be falling over in the penalty area again in the next few matches.
