North Shore's dimly lit training facility. A hastily arranged press conference is underway.
Mobek arrives 27 minutes late, wearing mismatched slides, a t-shirt that says “Nap First, Save Later,” and holding a greasy slice of pizza. He sits down, exhales deeply, and slouches into the mic.
"First of all, lemme say… I didn’t even know there was a draft. I was watching a documentary about deep-fried Mars bars when my agent called and said I’m going to North Shore. I thought it was a beach. Was kinda hyped, honestly."
he wipes his hands on his shorts, which have visible mustard stains
"Turns out it’s the minor team for Reykjavik United. Last year’s champions. So… technically, I’m kinda like half a champion now? That’s gotta count for something."
he shrugs, takes a bite of pizza mid-sentence
"People say this is a ‘step down.’ That I should be training harder. That I should be embarrassed. But liisten… I don’t train, I don’t run, I don’t eat green thingsand I still save more shots than half the guys who treat football like religion."
Mobek leans into the mic, suddenly serious
"You think putting me in the minors is punishment? Nah. It’s a vacatioon. I get to nap more. Eat slower. Walk to training instead of jog. And still? Come match day? I’m stopping goals with one hand, while sipping a cola in the other."
he stands up prematurely, grabs another slice of piza, and nods to the stunned reporters
"North Shore… y’all just got the best worst professional in the world. Let’s win some games. Or not. I’ll be here either way."
leaves, humming a football chant slightly off-key
