S22 Cross League Charity Drive - kahri - 2025-08-11
Hello SSL! I am happy to announce that the SSL is taking part in it's second charity event! We are partnering with many other sim leagues for a Cross-Sim League Charity Drive! We've got a great cause to support here and I would love for everyone to take a few minutes to see the details provided by everyone organizing this great event!
WHO WE ARE SUPPORTING?
This year, across Sim Leagues, we have chosen to support Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF)
MADD is an organization that was created by a mother in 1980 after she lost her 13 year old daughter to a drunk driver. Over the years, MADD has continued to grow and has continued to work on its mission is to end drunk and drugged driving, support the victims of these violent crimes, and prevent underage drinking and other drug use. MADD aims to protect lives, honor victims and continuously push for a future where there isn't just less drunk and drug driving-caused devastation, but a world with none. These are crimes that can have lasting impacts on families and communities, that are entirely preventable. MADD champions anti-drunk driving technology, leads prevention efforts across all communities in the U.S., supports victims and survivors, and advocates for stricter laws. To make impaired driving a thing of the past we must continue to change behaviors and fundamentally shift how future generations think about road safety.
From natural disasters to new and ongoing conflict, UNICEF is there, delivering lifesaving help to children in just 48 hours in more than 190 countries. No matter your background or beliefs, children are innocent victims in a world that deserves a chance to live their life and not have it taken away before it even begins. UNICEF responds to humanitarian emergencies, delivering short- and long-term support and protection for children in crisis situations as well as development long-term international development programs and partnering with local organizations that are doing the same.
WHAT'S THE TIMELINE?
The drive itself will begin NOW, Monday, August 11 and will wrap up Monday, August 25th.
WHAT TO DO RIGHT NOW?
The Board of Directors have planned prizes to be raffled off as incentives to help donate to the cause! In addition to those prizes, we are hoping to organize an auction! We'll be looking to take "donations" in the form of thing you'd like to auction off for others to bid on such as player signatures, media articles written about your player, podcasts and other suggestions provided by the community! Feel free to be creative and suggest items your community can bid on!
If you have something you would like to suggest to be auctioned off, please reach out to me on discord (_kahri_). Please don't be shy! This is a great cause and a great opportunity to participate in something fun even if you aren't able to contribute financially!
We are looking forward in participating with the rest of the sim leagues in this awesome charity drive and we hope you all enjoy being able to be a part of something amazing!
