S22 State of the League - Canadice - 2025-08-17 State of the League
After a delayed start to the S21 season we successfully completed the S22 Prospect Draft yesterday as the season's final event. Congratulations to all drafted prospects that are now joining their SSL Organizations and will be starting their SSL career in a week's time. Before this Prospect Draft we also had an Expansion Draft where the two new organizations ( and ) in the league started their journey with the first couple of assets. A summary of that selection can be found here. This brings me to my first big topic of this SotL: Season Structure
With the addition of two new teams in both the Major and Minor league we will see 12 teams facing off against one another. As mentioned in the Expansion Announcement, adjusting each matchday to be at most 1 hour (to reduce the single session workload for simmers and commentators) created a situation where the matchdays would not fit within the 9 week season calendar. We have therefore decided to increase the length of a season to 10 weeks starting in the S22 season. The Calendar already has the new schedule written in and you can see the game schedule. On a day where only one Matchday is scheduled, it will be split in two 3 sessions at Extended Highlight setting one premiering on the early time slot (15 Eastern) and one premiering on the late time slot (19 Eastern). On a day where there are two (or more) Matchdays they will be recorded using the Commentary Only highlight setting and premiere on the early and late time slot respectively. All matchdays on Mondays differ from this and will be Commentary Only Live-streamed on YouTube sometime between 15 and 22 Eastern, exact times announced on Discord on a weekly basis. An increase in season length does mean that we will see an increase in the total earned TPE during a season. This is another example of TPE inflation that caused the regression overhaul we implemented a couple of seasons ago. We will look at this new source of TPE inflation and adjust some things so as to not end up in the same scenario again, but due to the overall workload of expansion and other important issues, the adjustments will be announced and implemented for S23 in late October. Audit Department
The increase in teams have also increased the number of tactic submissions and in order to make sure the games are following the rulebook, we decided to start the Audit Department whose sole responsibility at this time is to check submitted tactic files. If you are interested in this job, more details about the role and hiring process can be found here In combination with this additional department we have also adjusted the base punishment for tactical rulebook infractions: 1st offense
2nd offense
3rd offense
Subsequent offenses will be 3rd offense penalty but 1 higher pick round and cap fine. So picks move to next available 1st round pick and cap penalty adds 3 million in fine. The BoD still reserves the right to issue harsher punishments on a case by case basis. Referral Program
Starting in S22 we are implementing a Referral Program for new users. In the forum user registration screen there is a field where you can add a username of someone who has referred you to the league. Referral Program rewards are only claimable by new users who has never before created a player in the SSL.![]() This program rewards the referred user (and the recruiter) when they hit specific TPE targets with their first player:
The Recruiter rewards caps at 30 million per player career (as banks are tied to the player). Rewards will be tracked by the Recruitment team and paid out directly on the Portal. Simmers
We are still looking for additional simmers to join the ranks so if you are interested in helping out with one of the more important aspects of the league, don't hesitate to reach out. In this hiring post you will find more information about the position as well as links to the Simming Guide that details the different parts of the role. The guide is split up into different tabs:![]() Lots of smaller adjustments and information this season, and we are all very excited to see what this new season will bring! (maybe some bigger portal updates??) Your Commissioner, Canadice |
