Shaheen's Extension Means Everything - Jiggy - 2025-08-31 When Reykjavik United offered to extend George Shaheen’s contract and resign him with the club for three more seasons, there was zero hesitation on Shaheen’s end in accepting and inking his name to the new deal. To continue to be so wanted by the only SSL organization he has ever known means everything. For starters, it means that there was substance to the potential the Reyjkavik saw in Shaheen when they made him a second-round selection in the S18 draft. They saw something in this former rough-around-the-edges defender from a small piece of the world that most pay little-to-no attention to. Something they could invest time, resources and training into becoming a quality attacking midfielder on the game’s biggest stage. It means that all the blood, sweat, and tears poured into making Reykjavik’s vision a reality paid off. It means that early investment into Shaheen was worth it. That he’s shown not just potential, but the substance to be a force in the SSL. It also means that, perhaps Reykjavik believes that the best of Shaheen is yet to come. That he has not yet hit his peak – his prime. And deep down, Shaheen believes that as well. There is more training to be done. More improvement to be made. More refinement to his game. More skills to add. More polish to apply. And – with all of that – more impact to be made on the pitch for the club. Shaheen’s journey is far from over. And it means everything that it shall continue in Reykjavik. RE: Shaheen's Extension Means Everything - DivogoJota - 2025-09-28 I don't usually see graders give shorter articles higher-end scores, but this one hit the marks for me. It has an obvious structure, it contained a compelling narrative, and it engaged with the player. This was sweet and succinct. If the narrative was fleshed out a bit more (like what aspects can be improved!), I'd have given it a perfect score. 4/5 |
