New Home for Walker - fathands3k - 2025-10-27
So the draft has come and gone. The media scrum that consumed their lives for the past few weeks has now come to an end. For some this might be the pinnacle in their journey, for others this is just the beginning.
As with all drafts, some players drop below their expected pick while others are selected higher than theirs. In the case of Walker, it was definitely a case of the former. This was a player who was expected to go early but unexpectedly dropped to pick 19 and into the welcoming arms of Xelajú Cósmico FC. While some fans were shocked by the slide, Walker clearly didn't care. He had always said pre-draft that whoever selected him was getting the number 1 player in the class. If this turns out to be true it was tremendous value secured by Xelajú Cósmico FC.
After the draft was concluded Walker had this to say:
"The hard work starts now, my goal wasn't to be drafted early, my goal is to be the best player I can be and show the world that I will be one of the best. Draft position means nothing at the end of the career. Xelajú Cósmico FC have been very welcoming since after the draft and it already feels like a place where special things are about to happen. I also think they have drafted in some excellent players. Seth McNeil was a rival from Sydney in the academy now turned teammate. I know I'm happier to be playing with him than against him. Nico Lam is a quality player also, he will turn out to be another steal. Karras a pick at 27th was a great capture, he'll go on to do great things here. Lucas James was our final pick, aside from myself we may have left the best till last. But as I mentioned before, the hard work STARTS NOW.
It will be interesting to watching this new batch bring their distinctive styles to this team and how they will gel, but it will be fun to watch them progress!
