Sandro and CDT Take the Next Step - gucci - 2025-12-01

What a brutal start to the season from a schedule standpoint for Tenochtitlan. Sandro had known that they’d be up against the best of the best right out of the gates. He started slow, and last season was beginning to look like the start of a disappointing pattern, but then things started to turn around. Sandro had found his feet, and his team had found theirs alongside him. Tough fought points or wins against the top teams in Hollywood, São Paulo, and Buenos Aires seemed to be coming easy, while the mid-table teams like Romana and Catalunya were proving to be the real test of whether CDT was ready to challenge for a title.

Either way, this Tenochtitlan team had announced themselves to the rest of the league. Sandro found himself with a goal and 5 assists already at the midway point for the season. The goal he’d set for himself was a goal and 6 assists. He looked set to casually crush his own expectations and hopes for this year. While there was no claiming he was the best at his position in the league yet, it was beginning to seem like he’d be a clear cut, bonafide superstar at right back while playing in Mexico City.

As for the rest of the squad, they were firing on all cylinders. The Roger Roger-Dom Patterson partnership was reaching new heights. The back line looked more impressive than last year. Hannibal Armeros was finally showing his ability in games that had terrorized Sandro and his teammates in training for many seasons now, and Calvin Ball held it all together from the back. The system was working. It was flexible, changing, growing alongside them. But Sandro still saw room for improvement, especially against teams who they should be scoring more against. The conversion rate seemed better against better opponents. While that’s not necessarily a bad thing, it is when you are dropping points you should be easily picking up.

Regardless, CDT finds themselves even on points with USP at the halfway point, within range of catching Hollywood. It’s miles ahead of where anyone expected them to be, and a sign of big big things for the future. Sandro knew when he first met his teammates, that they had an impressive young core with the potential to do great things in the future, but he definitely hadn’t expected that future to be upon them so soon. Now, Sandro is doubling down on training down the stretch. Trying to convince his teammates to push themselves just that extra 5% every chance he can. Focusing on addressing his biggest weakness, his ability to quickly change directions, and looking to next season to be his chance to focus solely on his attacking contributions.

While Sandro is pleased with both his and CDT’s breakouts, he knows where he wants to be next season and into the future, and he’s not even close to being there yet. Hopefully the chance to represent his home in the offseason cements his reputation globally and he can make the RB position in the team of the year his own. The title will be CDT’s new goal at that point.

Great to see such a clear breakout, meeting your goals so early in the season is sweet, 4/5
