S24 Promotion / Relegation Rules Update - Canadice - 2025-12-02
Detailed Rules
As announced last season, S24 will see us move to a two league, two division promotion relegation system in order to manage the amount of matchdays that the last expansion has brought us to. The standings of the S23 season will determine the initial split into the two divisions for each league, the top 6 joining the first division and the bottom 6 joining the second division. The BoD has now determined the detailed rules of the promotion relegation system:

The SSL consists of a Major, Minor and Academy league.
B.1.b.i
The Major and Minor leagues are each split into two divisions with six (6) teams each.Divisional Structure and Promotional Rules

Teams within each division play each other two (2) times in a season. The division champion will be the team with the most points at the end of the season.
B.2.d
Each league (Major and Minor) allow teams to move between the divisions at the end of the season through promotion and relegation.
B.2.d.i
Each league has 1 direct promotion/relegation slot and 1 playoff promotion/relegation slot.
B.2.d.ii
The last placed team in the first division is directly relegated to the second division and the top placed team in the second division is directly promoted to the first.
B.2.d.iii
The second to last placed team in the first division and the second placed team in the second division qualify for a one leg playoff where the winner is awarded a slot in the first division for the subsequent season.TLDR: One direct pro/rel spot, D1.6 - D2.1, and one playoff (1 leg) pro/rel spot, D1.5 - D2.2.

The original draft order is set by the reverse standings of the Major league divisions from the previous season.

The order of the 5th to 8th picks in each round is determined AFTER the promotion and relegation results.
G.1.a.ii
A directly relegated team is awarded the 5th pick if both second division teams are promoted, otherwise awarded the 6th pick.
A directly promoted team is awarded the 8th pick if both second division teams are promoted, otherwise awarded the 7th pick.In practice the draft order is determined by two scenarios, either one promotion or two promotions. The standings would be as follows with the draft order being the reverse of this list.
