Your Club, Your MTG Deck - Hollywood Football Club / Football Club Kaapstad - lemonoppy - 2025-12-03

What if your team was a Magic: the Gathering deck? Third article in the series, and third format! We’ve got to keep going backwards, which means Modern after Pioneer. I think I’m very excited for this next set, Hollywood looks kinda fun, specifically.

Hollywood Football Club / Football Club Kaapstad

Alright, Hollywood is a winning club, so I want a good deck, and I want it to be blue black, because of the logo. That means no UB Mill, since we’re not sickos, or Gift control since we want a good deck. I really want UB Frog, but that’s more a legacy deck, so we’re kinda stuck.

We’re going to be in the old 2023-2024 Modern with Living End then, when it wasn’t banned and it was still good.

This was a fun one to watch in Barcelona, I remember being a Living End player and watching this GP where it put 3 in the top 8, too bad the deck got really boring to play for me! Lost to a lot of nonsense since I was bad.

Kaapstad is going to be more difficult as a heavily base Green deck, that’s not really how it works nowadays, unless we just say that Titan is super green? But I don’t love that, we’re heading over to this elf deck that did well in 2024, which is very surprising. It’s got a lot of old creatures that don’t do much, but hey, sometimes you can just pop off with elves.
