The leader for tpe in the class is currently Juliette Greer. Their listed position is Cdm but their playstyle is definitely more attacking focused as of right now. Their strengths are their athleticism represented in their acceleration of 16, and pace of 15. Along with that they have 13 finishing. Now they do have a 10 for workrate, positioning, composure, and anticipation. But without a doubt they are currently more in the mold of a goal scoring midfielder.
Second place in the class belongs to Ekon Ayo. Their primary position is at Lb and they have a primary focus on stopping opposing wingers and players than going forward with the ball. His strengths are his acceleration of 14, His pace of 15 and his strength of 13. Right now though he is more athlete than technically sound defender with his positioning, work rate, and marking all at 10. The question will be if he ever provides a real impact offensively.
Third place for tpe in the class is Joao Mendes. Their primary position is also Cdm however they are more focused on the playmaking aspect of the position. He also has great athleticism with 14 acceleration and 15 pace. He also has 13 passing along with the trait tries killer balls often showing he is focused on helping create chances for his team.
I want to compare Joao and Juliette first because they play the same position but in very different ways. Juliette is a box crasher who has the athleticism to really go box to box and cover so much ground for a team. Also offers a goal scoring presence from midfield that just allows you to have another option going forward.
Joao is a deep lying playmaker type more so. He will help progress the ball from deep and make those plays that create higher quality opportunities. With the tries killer balls trait and the higher passing he can help get the ball form defense to atk fast and catch defenses off guard.
Ekon is a full back my favorite position in football right now. And has a strong base to kind of become whatever he wants to be. As of right now he is built more to be a stopper. He is athletic as of right now with growing defensive attributes. But that athleticism could also help them going forward which makes his future exciting.
I think it’s interesting to look at who the top 3 are in the draft because it will determine a lot about how the draft goes. The top 3 being all players you player further back especially with 1 being a defender. Despite some great attacking performances from a lot of players I think you could see a larger focus on defense due to it being a harder position to fill.
Overall I think just from the top 3 it shapes up to be a interesting draft as the strengths are at what I consider the non sexy positions but overall arguably more important.
