Haye to Montreal - Duilio05 - 2026-04-02

The first thing Haye did after the SSL Draft Ceremony was look up the top dining choices in Montreal. Sure, he’s excited to have been selected in the first round, and is intrigued by how his play style will fit into his new team’s formation and what the long term plan is for playing in the majors with SFV, but those things would be true regardless of which team drafted him. The real question is what sort of local eats are available in Montreal that he hasn’t experienced before? One of the top google returns is a post on reddit asking the very same question with over 150 comments. Researching some of the suggested restaurants, Haye has built a list of cuisines he has to try during his first season. Gravlax. Agneau. Croissants from an authentic French bakery. Poutine. Haye has made plans with his fellow Port Royal alumni who was also drafted to Montreal and SFV, goalkeeper Domingo, to attend an oyster sampling. A seafood shop in Montreal has over 60 varieties of oysters to taste! And don’t forget about the rich history of maple syrup; several maple farms are located surrounding Montreal. The only thing Haye is concerned about is dealing with the cold weather, snow and winter; learning to enjoy cozy french coffee shops will be required.
