A Game to Remember for Mendes - jason97 - 2026-05-10

London, England

As we are getting into the dog days of the S25 minor league season, João Mendes continues to get better and better. The rookie hasn't been producing many returns in terms of goals and assists, but in his current midfield position, he's learning how to battle in the midfield and control the game. Inter London has done a fantastic job of integrating all the rookies in the team, and it's turning into a really special season.

In the midst of this special season, matchday 8 saw João Mendes' best game of his short career. With Inter London piling it on against Athênai F.C. 5-1, Mendes finished the game with one goal and two assists, including his first player of the game. His first assist came on the first goal of the game, where Mendes picked up the ball in the middle of the field and passed it to Angry Lizard, who did the rest. Mendes then scored the 4th goal of the game, his second of the season, following a corner where he picked up the ball and ran past the Athênai defenders to slot it past the goalkeeper on his favored foot. His second assist of the game came from a first-time ball to Ryan O'Neill, whose first-time shot from just inside the box beat the Athênai goalkeeper for a superb goal.

João Mendes continues to show incredible promise and poise on the field. As Inter London looks to take the division two title and get promoted to the first division, these next few games are going to be incredibly crucial. This season and race so far have been very tight with Cairo City, so this should be a fun couple of weeks.
